I didn't try on either fully styled, but here are my initial impressions.&nbsp;</p> <p><b>Mackage</b> - I was a little misled by the sizing information. While it does say to size down if between sizes, the L is for 8-10, which is exactly what I am, and it was too big. It was also heavier than I expected, which is great for my climate, but a little bulky for running in and out of the car doing errands and the like. I also wasn't crazy about the bright silver zipper. Still debating whether to reorder a size down.&nbsp;</p> <p><b>Derek Lam</b> - Angie is correct that the hood is real fur. I don't think it's a deal-breaker for me. Neither is the "seasonally confused" aspect of the unlined sleeves, as I would always wear it with sweater/cashmere layers and don't plan to be in the elements long in this coat. The M fit well and the color suited me more than I expected and I like how the fit is adjustable through draw cords. I loved it too. Very straight, and very puffy. But still streamlined. (I’m pretty sure Angie says as much in her writeup.) </p> <p>The issue is that it is a winter weight coat that is much more practical at a longer length. I live in Michigan, where we have a long winter, and our coats are often the only things people see us in. My lifestyle is casual, I'm 5'1, and don't like to define my waist so I think all these would work. I have a great, seriously utilitarian coat for the coldest of days, so with this one I'm looking to mix it up style-wise, to be useful on days I'm just running around town, jumping from car to shop or the like.&nbsp;</p> <p>I'm wondering if anyone has any impressions or real-life experience with any the following.&nbsp;</p> <p><b>Mackage Water Repellent Down Jacket</b> - love the subtle tartan print and looks good on the functionality front, too. Angie's pick.</p> <p><b>Pendleton Pearl Coat </b>- may not be heavy enough for real winter but I like the classic Pendleton styling and loden color. Worried it may be limiting regarding outfits and less polished than the others. Angie's pick.</p> <p><b>Derek Lam 10 Crosby Faux Vest and Parka</b> - The wild card. Maybe it's capturing my imagination because I just had success with the brand and also because of the 2-in-1 feature and trendy fur vest/hood. It's also a color that is nothing like I own for winter. Not an&nbsp;Angie's pick, but I don't know if it's because it didn't pass muster or just wasn't seen in real life.</p> <p><b>PHOTOS:</b>&nbsp;First four are obviously the DL styled for winter (1-3) and late fall (4). The last two (5-6) are the Mackage. Which do you prefer, and does the Mackage look like I should size down? (Still waiting for Pendleton to arrive.)</p> </p>
