Agreeing with Suz. When I started tracking I was amazed at the gap between what I wore (& how often) & what I thought I wore.

Hmm. Reading your run-down of wears, it occurs to me there's maybe a precipitous drop-off point for me. I've been wearing some new sweaters pretty much to death, but what happened to my new sweaters from the start of the season? Of course, we're deeper into winter now, and those were still cotton, if chunky. The ones I'm wearing now are wool.

High five to a fellow bargain/out of season shopper. It makes the list of "have I worn this yet?" items longer than I'd prefer, but I remind myself some are for summer.

It sounds like you are doing a good job with your purchases. Too bad about the several that did not work out.

Keeping track of wears is really very enlightening, isn't it? I have been doing it for the first time this year and I'm learning things about my own buying/ wearing patterns, too. It sounds as if you've had more than your share of clothes not standing up in quality, though, or fit (the kind of fit issue you often can't tell until wearing, I guess). That is frustrating.

One of the nice things about keeping track of my budget and items in is that I can see if I'm wearing things soon after I buy them or not. When doing a final review of my fall budget (I started winter and my 2015 budget on the solstice) I noticed the following patterns.
I bought 29 items in fall:

3 were summer items bought out of season and thus haven't been worn yet

One sweater developed runs after its first washing and has already been binned (found a replacement the other day)

3 were short-sleeved tops, 1 cropped jeans, all of which got worn once or twice but then put away with the warmer fall stuff

5 were leggings or layering tanks and have gotten worn a time or two

One dress I wore the other day but found that it was way too short, and is going to get donated after it's washed

a belt hasn't been worn yet; neither have the one pair of trousers

all the sweaters and long-sleeved shirts have been worn at least twice, as have all the shoes

The two skirts have been worn once so far

One drapey sweater vest has only gotten worn a time or two, because I only have one top that works with it

and the one jacket has gotten worn but not a lot since it's been cold here at night and I wanted a longer coat

So basically I am wearing everything that fits the current weather, and the stuff I'm not wearing as much is because it's not warm enough or I don't have multiple options to wear it. Or it's more formal business wear which I know I don't wear all the time, but like to have around for the occasional need. This makes me happy to realize, as I like to feel like I'm making reasonable decisions about what I buy.

(Upon reading over this this kinda reads like the textual equivalent of a haul video; I'm not attempting some sort of humblebrag, just trying to figure out what I actually wear and if I'm buying somewhat effectively.)
