I always find it a bit hard to imagine how things will look 'on' when seeing them on the hanger, but it seems like you found some great things Kathleen. Will you model them for us pretty please?-)

You scored some lovely items, Kathleen. I love thrifting - and go a wide variety of stores from Goodwill to upscale consignment stores. Last weekend I found a Nanette Lepore blouse at Goodwill and just couldn't believe my luck...

I especially love the floral top with the cream background and the fuchsia and turqouise florals, it is so pretty!

Regarding the pencil skirt, I agree with you that it looks too wide/bulky. I think pencil skirts need to fit quite snugly. Does this one have pockets on the sides? They add unneccesary bulk. Or maybe it's just the seams, in any case, I think you can do much better.

I also feel it's fine to shop at the SA. No different than going to Goodwill. Would love to see the items on, Kathleen - looks like you scored lovely pieces.

I think you are right on the fit of the grey pencil skirt. I like a more feminine style in pencil skirt that lays smooth, without the zipper and belt loops.
I see no difference in shopping at any of the used clothing stores. As long as you inspect the piece and make sure it is in good shape and clean. I think at the upscale boutiques they are more choosy and probably clean what needs it. At the Goodwill and Salvation Army I don't think they do anything but put it on the rack.
You've got some good item there. Can you try them on and get opinions on fit? It's hard to tell if it works for you by just seeing it on the hanger.
I think you are doing great to go to all the effort to shop for pre worn clothing.

Well, the shopping bug bit me again! Three times in the past three weeks! The first time was at Old Navy. Here is the post: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....?replies=3 .

The second time was this past Monday. Here, is the quick story regarding that. I had a job intereview today (Tuesday) and wanted to wear the new grey pencil skirt that I had bought at Old Navy, and a long sleeve button down. Well, I have no button downs, except one, and I wanted a solid not a stripped. So, just passing by I decided to stop in at the local Salvation Army to see what they had. I didn't expect to find anything, but I hit the jackpot in regards to some nice dresses, and tops.

The thing with me is that I have always felt strange, out of place, or perhaps, a little embaressed shopping at the SA, but I suppose that it is no different than shopping at some of the "upscale, boutiquey" type second-hand shops I like to go to.

What does everyone think regarding my feelings toward that? Any opinions/comments?

Today, I went back to the SA to donate some things. I had a couple of bags/totes that I never use anymore, and have not used in more than three years, and was never going to use again, so I decided to donate them. I am trying to widdle down my collection of bags - I don't have that many to begin with - about 3 or 4 - two summer bags, two winter bags, and a work tote- but it still felt great to donate to people in need.

Well, I went to donate, and came out with three skirts for $11.00. None of them are pencil skirts simply skirts that fall just a little bit above my knees. Tomorrow, (Wednesday) I will try the skirts on and I would love all of your opinions on them.

Below is my link to my SA finds.

http://s703.photobucket.com/al.....%20Pieces/

Note I: The SA photos start at Soft Purple Skirt and end at Light Floral Summer Dress Close-Up.

Note II: The necklace and earrings set is from Kohls' clearance rack.

Oh, today I had a job intereview, and I wore my grey pencil skirt and my new floral top with black kitten heels. Today is when I made the decision to re-sell my grey pencil skirt to the thirft store. It just doesn't fit right. It feels too big in the tummy area and doesn't have the correct "fit" to it in general.

Tomorrow, my mom and I are going to another SA store, so it will be interesting to see if I find anything there.

Please, let me know what everyone thinkgs of everything.

Thank you!
