Ashley, I don't know the style name, but it is definitely the same jacket in Makrame's link. You and I are the same height and roughly same weight, and I also sometimes have to size up for my bottom half. I'm usually a US 6 or 8. My shoulders have some width to them, I'm narrow across the back but have some boobage (32DDD) so we probably would be close in size when it comes to overall chest measurement. I'm also fairly short in the torso, and this is not a long jacket. I think my size (US 8/UK 12) would work for you. Mine fits me snugly. I can't gain weight again!

Hi Ashley, maybe Janet knows the style name - here is the link to the red one I got http://www.yoox.com/us/5912787.....38;sizeId= but it does not show the style name. It looks like my size 10 jacket is back on sale and it might fit you (my height/weight is similar to yours but the bust size is 34D so I think I need a 12 in Muubaa and you might be OK with an 8 or a 10).

Is the red one the style Mallow? I'm really wanting a red Muubaa jacket (I think I like the Quinn style better because it's more red). @Janet - what size do you think I should order? I've been torn up about it - I usually wear a US small top, I'm 5'7'' 135 pounds, 34 B, and carry the weight in the bottom for sure (usually my dress size would be a size 4 on the top but I have to size up because of my hips). Any sizing advice for this brand?

Thanks!

Makrame, I'm just seeing this, but #1 is indeed the same jacket I got! I'm usually a 6 or 8 in tops, and I got this in an 8 (UK 12) and I think it actually fits similarly to yours. I am definitely not small-chested, although I'm small across the back (32DDD). I don't zip my Muubaa jacket all the way up, and I sometimes wear it open over a couple of layers, with a scarf. I do think it has stretched a little bit since I bought it. The extreme distressing took me aback at first, but YLF and the husband review board proclaimed it fab, so I happily kept it. I wear it as an outfit piece and outerwear, but I guess if I'd wanted it to be a cold-cold-weather outerwear piece, I would have gone up a size.

So I'm probably biased, but I love that jacket on you. I also like the Tahari and think a size down will look great. I'm a bit more lukewarm on the taupe one. The booties look terrific!

I agree with you and prefer the taupe jacket for its cut. I prefer how it falls on the back better. It does look a bit snug when zipped (in pic 2). The question is the climate you live in. Is it cold? Do you have room for heavier sweaters, if it is the case? If not, and if you can move your arms comfortably when zipped, then this size might be right.

As for the red one, I agree, it is too small. It looks cool, yes, but not when it's too small. Also, I am not sure the style would go with the rest of your wardrobe style, or is it a direction you want to move towards? The distressed collar and bomber shape is very rock'n'roll.

Booties: as footwear with dresses and skirt, I would wear them with tights. I can't really see the size difference. The colours is really up to you and what you have in your closet. And how comfortable they are.

From your colouring and hair colour, I would keep the darker ones.

If they are outstandingly comfy, and if you can afford it, then I suggest keeping both pairs; however if you are looking for a pair with dresses and a pair with pants, I would only keep one pair (for pants) and look for something more delicate or more ankle hugging for dresses.

You have great legs BTW.

I actually LOVE the fit of the red one. Love love love. The others don't bowl me over, unfortunately... sorry to be a downer. Interesting about your Muubaa experience. I've only tried on one but found it TTS if you go by the US size, and big going by the EU size. So perhaps that means their sizing is a little inconsistant.

Denise, the red is US 10. The taupe jacket (also from Muubaa) is US 8 but it seems a bit softer. I normally wear 6 or 8 in tops but have to size up for really tailored pieces, like Brook Brothers shirts (I am US 10-12 in those). Hope this helps. I think the Muubaa jacket in 6 might work for you.

My favorites are the black one and the red one. Hope the black one in a smaller size works out. I too have been searching for a leather jacket. Thanks for the Yoox links and I just went over to look at Bluefly as well.

ETA: what size is the red Muubaa jacket? They are sold out in red but they still have some in taupe. I usually wear a size 4.

Yes, so I guess it would make sense to use a longer jacket (like the Tahari or maybe the Andrew Marc one) for "real" outerwear - i.e., slightly longer, easy to zip up etc. The Tahari jacket is well within my comfort zone - it would not be stretch (literally and figuratively) for me to wear it.

Something like a motorcycle jacket would be more of stretch and more of a decorative/style element rather than pure function. I do wear most of my jackets open because of the "busting out" issues and also because that seems more flattering in general. Whether that would be the case for leather jacket as well, I am not sure.

Hmmm, well if it's for outerwear, then it's definitely too small (I liked the fit when it was open a lot). It seems like, for outerwear, you want one with a bit of length to it (vs. hitting right at the waist or a bit lower). At least this is my thought re. leather jackets, though I have given up in my search :).

I love #4 on you! I also loved the red one, but I looked at the picture before I read your comments - and now I do agree that it looks a little tight in the bust. Maybe it's the sizing, but #4 seems like it's taking you in an entirely different direction from the red to me - I love it, but it is more relaxed. The red is hot and really fun! If you think the red one is more your style, I'd keep looking for the perfect jacket/fit.

I love the booties! You have really nice legs, btw.

OK, I still like the red. I think you are right that it's designed for someone flatter-chested - it does look too small zipped up all the way - but in every other way the fit is right.

THe red one really IS great on you.

You know...I share your question. How DO people find leather to wear outdoors that fits yet they can layer under it? It is a total mystery to me because with the jackets I have tried I have your exact same experience. It is either very snug (could not layer) OR too big (in shoulders, sleeve, body, everywhere).

The sales associates at Danier told me that you buy it snug and it "gives." One said that her own jacket stretched out a full size and she now layers sweaters beneath it. She added that another SA in the store bought a jacket that did not feel snug - and now had to have it resized smaller, after wearing for some time!!

Yes, this would be for outerwear. I cannot imagine myself wearing a leather jacket indoors yet (it took me a year to stop feeling weird about not taking off denim jackets indoors; I haven't adjusted to the idea of indoor leather yet). I am not planning on layering heavy sweaters underneath. In fact, so far all jackets I have tried are either tight as a glove (can't imagine layering a sweater under) or too big. I wonder how do people manage to find leather jackets that look good but have room to layer.

I am looking for something that I could take with me when traveling and it would go from sightseeing to going to a restaurant or wondering around town. This is my second year trying out leather jackets. I did not keep any of the ones I ordered last year, and I am OK with not keeping anything this year, either. I agree with cjh that taupe seems to be a great neutral (waving to Suz, "the queen of taupe"). That red jacket is a beauty, though...

IS the red one too small? I quite like it. But if it feels too distressed, I guess it's a noncontender anyway.

I am hopeful about the Tahari in small - it looks really nice in these pics.

I am not 100% sure about the taupe one. But I can't put my finger on why. I think it is what you said - it makes a barrel shape in the front. Note the cut of the red one does not do that. And I DO like the way the taupe one seems to flare out a bit in the back when undone - that's cool. Yet in the front it just hangs straight. Not sure what to think about that, really.

The booties look great!

Muubaa runs small! I love the color of that one though. I actually like both of these on you. The taupe looks to be the right size but do you like the fit and style? Sounds like I need to try yoox someday.

6 looks great. I love both the booties and the jacket. This seems a good neutral for you, because look how well it plays with both the olive green skirt and the red in your scarf. I hope you decide this jacket is the right fit.

I think the two brand names together read like an incantation of sorts. :)

Yoox has amazed me yet again with their lightning shipping speed. I think I ordered the leather jackets on Tuesday night, and they were here on Friday. I got three Muubaa jackets (this one http://www.yoox.com/us/5912787.....38;sizeId= in khaki and brick red and this http://www.yoox.com/us/5912789.....8;sizeId=6 in "lead" or taupe color). I tried three different sizes and found out that Muubaa runs pretty small (for the brick-colored jacket I would probably need their biggest size; UK 16=US 12).

I believe these might all go back but figured I'll have fun and take some photos anyway.I was smitten with the red jacket at first (I think it is very similar to the one Janet has) but quickly realized it is A. too small and B. too distressed. I have warmed up significantly to the taupe jacket but am not sure about the size. I could get the taupe jacket in the next size up, too. For comparison, I have added a photo of Tahari jacket I got from Bluefly that was too big (#4). I am waiting for Tahari jacket in size small to arrive.

I am also playing around with the new Zodiac booties. I think I will keep both dark brown in 7.5 and taupe in 7 - the 7.5 are going to be great with thick socks but I think the dark color does not work on my legs with dresses - I feel like a stick figure. I think the smaller size in taupe is OK with dresses and nude tights as shown in #6. What do you think?

P.S.: I also find it interesting that photographing shiny leather makes my belly look completely barrel-shaped. I hope it is just the photo/flash effect and not a sigh that I should forget about leather jackets entirely. :)

ETA: more photos of the red: it is definitely straining at the bust when zipped. Maybe it is just not designed for busty figures. The back view is the best of all jackets I have tried so far (when zipped, it looks wrinkly in the back but that is the case for all jackets I have tried).

Maybe I should just wait for this red jacket by Andrew Marc (pic #8) to go on sale. :)

Oh, and for comparison here is the fit of the Muubaa red jacket on the model.
