Once I wore arche shoes and they were just right. I found out that there are arche (even new ones) on Ebay. I'll have to explore some more and thank you for the names of manufacturers that you love:
Rubarbgirl, archer, dizzy lizzy and grey scale: I appreciate the input and opinions you've taken time to give.

Off to see what Ziera looks like.

Check out Naot, Keen, and Merrell. I don't know how outdoorsy you want to look; those have many options ranging from hiker to city girl. Also Fly London, OTBT, and Camper (though Camper never fits my feet properly).

The shoe store planetshoes.com has a lot of comfort shoes and many of them are fairly stylish.

I wish Mephisto made more shoes with their sandal footbed, which fits me perfectly. Their dressier shoes are a different design.

I was wanting a dressier shoe option after wearing Teva's for a long time and have just made the switch from Teva to Ziera shoes. These are just as comfortable (I can wear them all day long from the very first day) and some have removable inner soles that you can replace with an orthotic if needed.

Rereading your original post, I see that you weren't necessarily looking for sandals. My bad! I think it depends on what your budget is, as far as comfort shoe lines. Clarks don't fit me quite correctly but they're well made and others swear by them. I've had good luck with Naturalizer. Getting more pricey, Ecco and Mephisto are both supposed to be comfy and wear like iron.

Does your local mall have a comfort shoe store? It might be worth a visit, since they'll have shoes from several brands that you can try.

Thanks to all of you,
I do have some silver Munro shoes. They are nice.
I love Mephisto also,
Yes, you're right I need to investigate TEVAs again.

Right now it's off and on cold. I can't wait for spring.

I'm looking for some flats to 2 inch shoes I can wear for dress shoes. Aerosoles are too mushy for me my feet to feel secure. Ecco is under consideration.

I'll keep you posted.

I have come to swear by the Allrounder by Mephisto. I work in production and I can stand in these for 12+ hours. For a walking trip in Washington DC, I bought some Scholls gel inserts. And I like the link that Emily provided, if you're looking to stay in a sandal! What a fun mission!

I just got a pair of Munro sandals that feel very much like dressier Birks. I haven't worn them out of the house yet, but I am very picky about shoe comfort (I like to be able to walk for a few hours in a shoe) and these seem like they might work for this summer.

I've been searching for black sandas for a few months and have tried Clarks in several styles, The Flexx (I think that's the name), and a bunch of others Ecco, etc. and these have been the winners so far. I ordered these in a W in my usual size, but I more often wear a M in width. These feel right with the W width for my foot.

Have you checked out the Teva site? They make some sandals that are more casual than gear:
http://www.teva.com/women/capr.....03970.html

I just bought these to take on a trip, wore them around the house for several hours and they are quite comfortable.

Tevas were actually in last summer, in a norm core way, but if you want something slightly less athletic-y, look at the Jambu brand. I've seen several cute pairs online.

I love my Tevas. I use them for taking walks in the summer and taking DD to the playground. So comfy!

Birks were considered on trend last summer, so I jumped on that bandwagon and wore mine all summer long!

At home, I love Tevas. The lasts are strong and cushion against the ground. I get the arch support I need. I'm wondering if you've found any shoe lines, for dress and for casual outings, that have the durability of a Teva but are more fashionable. I'm looking for flats to no more than 2 inch heel heights. Let me know what you've tried. Thanks for reading, if you've gotten this far.
