I have the Ecco boots and like them very much. I bought them for daily wear to and from work in the winter, so I wouldn’t have to change in and out of snow boots. The building I work in is also on a slab and they keep my feet warm. They are true to size for me.<br /> We just returned from several days of vacation and I wore them for some light hiking - they worked well. We live in the Midwest US where we can have pretty cold winters. I find that I need to designate a pair of shoes for sand walks because sand usually works it way into my shoes and the combo of sand and salty water is damaging and shoes don't stay nice for very long. I've been wearing a pair of waterproof low hikers and have decided to replace them so I'm also looking for better shoes for beach walking. I'm thinking of trying these Merrel waterproof hikers. Since my walks on the beach last and hour or so, and I don't include walks in town, these should work for me. Only some of their styles work for me -- most are too wide or don't accommodate my higher arch&nbsp; -- but those that work, work very well.&nbsp;</p> <p>These are not water proof so not ideal for your beach walks, but they may make a waterproof version.
