I do what Maya does, hand wash in the sink and dry over the shower rod. A use a very gentle product called Zum wash but it may just be local. Does anyone know if baby shampoo is ok? A college roomy used that for hand wash.

Definitely don't tumble dry. Bras are delicate and all the tossing and banging around will wear down the wires.

You'll need to hand wash with a detergent made for delicates. This is the one I use:

http://www.forevernew.com/variance.php

You can get a free sample of it. I use it for other delicate HWO garments too.

When done, gently wring out the excess water and hang them or lay them flat to dry. I just toss mine over the shower rod overnight.

Maybe I'll try that with some of my too big bras until I can invest in more. Thanks!

Oh, it's ugly! I cut off the eye part of the hook and eyes and just sew the whole patch up further on the band. I suck at sewing - it's by hand with a $2 kit you buy at the drugstore. But it works!

How do you 'customize' your bands? I really need to learn to sew different things. I have a dress and a couple nightgowns that could use having the straps shortened.

I am bad and put mine in the washer in a lingerie bag. But I air dry them. This sounds funny, but I hang the straps on either side of a doorknob and it seems to keep the shape relatively well while they dry. Just be sure no one accidentally slams the door shut on your bra!

I am looking forward to a proper bra fitting sometime this year, too. As it stands, I often 'customize' my bands myself to make them an inch smaller.

Hello again!

So I haven't been on here in about a week. During that time I bought a 2nd Calvin Klein seductive comfort bra in black because I was wearing my nude one literally every day!

Thank you for all the advice on bra shopping! I discovered once I gave it a chance, I LOVE these bras and can't stand to wear my old *way too big in band* ones. Even my previous favorite is uncomfortable now. *Note I hate the kisses one I got on sale.. very uncomfortable and itchy!

I had planned to go to Atlanta to go bra shopping with my mom sometime this weekend, but my allergies kicked in and I don't feel like doing much of anything except lay on the couch and drink hot tea.

So now I desperately need to wash my new bras (since I only have 2). How should I go about it, what do you guys recommend? Some sort of detergent in the sink? Lay flat to dry or hang? What about the tumble dry air only setting?

Thanks!
Elizabeth
