Ornella, So cool of you to share about this. I went through my closet and would you believe it, every pant that I find comfy has this feature. Waistbands rolling down is always a concern for me as I am a short-waisted apple.

I've heard this called a 'waist stay' in sewing circles, and it's a neat trick to add to your pants. For me personally, I find the bulk of the extra layer balances out the tummy-tucking abilities for the most part. But then, my tummy's not going anywhere no matter what I wear.

Interesting discovery! Now I want to go turn all my jeans inside out to see if any of them do this....

Anya, I don't see why they reduced pocket size except to save on the extra fabric maybe. However, pocket depth does not have any effect on the overall "performance" of the new pocket pattern. Personally, I'd trade pocket depth for width like the new one. But, I don't use pockets at all.

Sparky, I find both models the same quality-wise.

I thought the same as Anya. While I can see some benefits of the new pocket design, I actually use the pockets of my current leans (last year's model) but can't with the current ones. I do get that most people probably don't use the pockets of skinny jeans and jeggings though.

Ornella, do you find that the fabric & overall quality is the same as last year's model? I need to buy new leans as my size has changed, and have my fingers crossed that what's currently in store is as good as last year's in fit and fabric quality.

I would never think of looking at jean side pockets from the inside, much less making the connection, how this influences the comfort factor!
You're so clever, Ornella!

Disclaimer: I do not advocate tight or uncomfortable clothing.

What is PJP, you wonder? It stands for Perfect Jeans Pocket.

I don't take credit for my next jeans-related discovery (here's the first one, in case you've missed it ) since I've learnt this little fact from the product description, but I still wanted to share it as I'm really happy to learn what a difference a small change in the pattern makes.

I have both last year's and this year's model of the jeans which go under the same name, but one of the major improvements is how the insides of the pockets (or pocket lining, made of 100% cotton) are cut and sewn in.

The new model's pockets reach all the way across the front and are sewn into the zipper hem. This means that although the jeans themselves have some elastine, the bit across the tummy will not stretch at all, because the pockets fabric cannot stretch, therefore keeping the jeans un-stretched too at that part.

The results? Flatter tummy, which is nice in itself, but also the whole front of the jeans does not fold or cut into the belly, which apart from being comfortable helps keep the nice posture too. Also, looking from the outside, the old pockets always gape a bit because they somehow "float" on the inside of the pants, while the new ones don't as they are "anchored" in the zipper hem.

Pictures will illustrate it better than words I'm sure. Photo 1 shows the old jeans, 2 shows the new.

ETA: Added photos to show pockets lying flatter on the outside. Photo 3, old jeans: Photo 4, new jeans.
