Delurked:  I am a jewel tone girl at heart, and am working on new combinations of old favorites!  Now, for instance, I pair my cobalt with burgundy or olive.  I also love teal and raspberry.  What to use more of this year?  Not sure yet! Tanya:  Yes, I've not seen many of the block heeled MJ's -- those would be awesome.  I'm looking for the most grown up examples, since girly feet with a venerable face might not be the sort of juxtaposition I'm going for!   Summer:  I love seeing what other fabbers share!  Hope I can help others imagine new combinations, too!  It took me years to move beyond black to add grey and (shock) brown!  Then I added a pair of burgundy booties!  Then some Ivory T-straps!   Ledonna:  Your imagination is primed and ready to go at any spark! Marianna:  I think I sometimes use my budget and casual lifestyle as an excuse for settling for items and outfits that don't bring me a lot of pleasure.  I intend to be a bit pickier this year!  You've always done such a good job of dressing with intention and grace! ABC:  Traveling partners (even on a virtual style journey) make the trip more delightful! Jenn:  Hah!  So you live in song cues, too?  Our styles are different in some ways, but we share that arty connection for sure -- I always get ideas from your outfit posts (and your bookshelves!). Aziraphale:  I am indeed going into people's homes.  As for shoes -- I'm not sure how that will play out yet.  Midwesterners are mixed in their traditions.  I may end up carrying some house shoes (pretty flats) with me for just this purpose.  I don't feel "professional" working without footwear.  I may need to strike a balance between being professional, and not making the mom in the house feel underdressed or self-conscious in her yoga pants! I'm a fan of a nice v-neck too. Wider, looser pants will be great for getting down on the floor. I agree that skirts may be less practical. One thing to think about: will you be going into people's homes? If so, will you need to remove your shoes? (That is the norm where I live). That might affect your outfit selection. Beth Ann on "More!" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/more-1#post-1725544 Sat, 10 Sep 2016 05:15:51 +0000 Beth Ann 1725544@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ No, I'm not craving more stuff.  Now that most of my wardrobe will be Smart Casual, with a small dressy capsule, and a home capsule, I don't need a larger wardrobe.  In fact, since I'll be moving about a lot, playing instrument, joining kids on the floor in their living rooms, I need to be practical and approachable.  What do I crave? 1.  More luxurious, but easy care fabrics.  No need for real silk or cashmere, but perhaps some fine Merino, and well made ponte and blends 2. Comfy shoes that reflect great personal style.  No super-flats, or heels over 3 inches.  I love grown up versions of retro shoes, and refined booties.  I'm also ready for more color in my footwear.  I spent more than a decade in only black, boring shoes!  A real need?   3.  Exploration of new silhouettes.  Skirts are on the backburner for now, but wide legs?  Oh, yes!  More crops!  Sure (and I'll need the right shoes for these). 4.  V-necks and true shoulders. Nothing looks better on me than a nice, modest V!  Add a true shoulder seam in a relaxed fit, with good length for pants, and I'm in heaven.  I also like the way it allows me to wear a sweater without overheating.  What's even better?  Luscious fabric and color! 5.  Structured, but soft, toppers.  This means long cardis that don't droop (and have that nice shoulder line), and jackets with good stretch, preferably unlined.  Even better?  More color! 6.  Jewelry that frames, without getting in the way!  When working with children with disabilities, playing guitar and sitting knee to knee, I need modern, feminine details that aren't likely to be grabbed by little fingers, or get caught in an instrument.  Bracelets have to stay at home, long pendants will have to be tucked into my fabulous v-neck sweater, but shorter necklaces and earrings will be easy to integrate! 7. More Personal Style!  How to I express my dressy, "Diva Off-Duty" persona in my new environment?  What about a pair of Mary Janes (2 inches only) with my bootcuts?  A 40's inspired blouse worn with crops and ankle-strap shoes. I won't know for a few weeks (or months) what my needs will be, but I"m hoping to incorporate these elements as I move forward! Any suggestions for wardrobe additions or remixes?  Any of these on your list?  What would you add?
