This palette is so good on you! I like how you know the warmer end of the spectrum favors you and lean into that — I do the same but on the cooler side! I also like how you have bossed around that pretty dress to work for you.

We are just entering summer dressing but these outfits make me yearn for fall already, LOL.

These are ALL gorgeous—rich, moody, and so sophisticated! Burgundy is one of my absolute favorite colors too, and you’ve styled it to perfection. I love the dress, the belt, the Zara skirt, and your boots...Your wardrobe must be a treasure trove… I’m seriously tempted to sneak in and “borrow” a few pieces!

No worries Lyn67.

Thanks Bijou. I think the puffer layering works well for our weather. It can be quite cold in the morning but often warms up to a mild temperature.

Thanks RC. Texture is very important to me. I love winter textures.

Wow again! I love the first dress, that new COS belt, the pleated skirt, the ring, and the tall boots the best out of all the items. I do have quite a few similar items in my Finds, but am leaning into tomato red this winter instead

All amazing and gorgeous. I am intrigued by the puffer vest under the jacket - it is a fantastic look and as Uniqlo is one of my favourite stores, something I am keen to try. Burgundy is a stunning colour on you. It does not suit me, which is such a shame because I love it, so I will have to enjoy it on you and other forum members.

And thanks Dee and RobinF. I have had a couple of fails with DIY dyeing lately. Splotches But when it works it is very satisfying.

Lyn67, great to see you again! I love that jacket. I would like a burgundy linen blazer too. We did have some burgundy filtering through last Spring/Summer. Here are a few of my burgundy based outfits from last summer, in case you missed them. The top in pic 1-3 looks brown but is actually a deep burgundy/wine colour. The skirt in pic 4 is DIY dye job.

Thanks everyone! Dark gold is (was) my colour of the year but perhaps it should be burgundy. I am really enjoying the moody burgundy vibe.

Thanks Angie. I am thrilled! I agree that accessories are a big part of my look. I always think it’s worth spending time thinking about finishing details. And yes, I’ve had good success with Zara lately. Some cargo pants I bought 2 years ago were a fail (they just never recovered from washing) but everything else has worked well. I’ve already washed the burgundy cargo pants and they came out fine. I love the top too. It’s an unusual colour. My mum is not into dusty colours. So that explains a lot.

Thanks slimcat. I am not sure if I have seen anyone do sequins on the forum before. I hope to start a trend.

Thanks Jaime. I knew that was you shouting :)

Thanks Lisa. Burgundy jewellery items are quite hard to find so I jumped on that ring.

Thanks Sal. I feel like I have finally figured out how to dress without relying on office wear for my kicks. It is satisfying.

Laurie, thank you, that is high praise!

Thanks Suz. The Autumn palette is very inspiring. I hope you find your burgundy items too. I could see in you sequins, Ms Radiant.

Thanks Bonnie, Star and Cat2.

My goodness, this is an amazing set of outfits. Burgundy is YOUR color, simply stunning on you and all of these looks are superb! It's tough to pick a favorite. You wear long skirts and cargo pants equally well, and you accessorize each outfit perfectly! The burgundy floral ring is very pretty! And I appreciate the thoughts that go with each outfit, it's nice to get some insight into the details for each outfit.

I'm also with others, sorry dear mum but the Grecian vibe in #4 is lovely on you.

I can't really pick a favourite but I always adore that pleated skirt; but I also love both pants looks. Very practical but very cool. Your looks are so elevated yet they look comfortable and real - no crazy high shoes or cumbersome pieces.

Ooh, I have been waiting for a Brooklyn early winter/ fall update! Amazing outfits, and good for you, for stocking up on the colours you love while they are available.

Of course I am a huge fan of the burgundy cargos. But I also admire the way you have made the AllSaints dress work for you and your plans for getting more wear from it later on.

Not at all surprised you got a YLF from a passerby for outfit 5/6. The jaunty cap is the perfect accessory!

I had to laugh at the comment from your mother! She sounds a bit like my mum was. She definitely had her opinions and let me know.

LOVE the sequin skirt look! And, as usual, I so admire the way you make tonal dressing rich, interesting, and vibrant. Like autumn leaves in a beautiful pile....

Extra LOVE, LOVE, LOVE for the dress and the hat!!! They launched me into orbit and I'm flying around the room!I think you effectively offset the cool tones and shorter length of the dress with the tall brown boots and some skin. Well done!!!

Lots of Zara VIPs in your wardrobe, and rightly so! When Zara get it right, they REALLY get it right!

These are all fab. looks, no matter what and again! Your new items are beautiful, including the new textured sweater and the Zara printed skirt!
I also love burgundy& and sage green...but unfortunately missed your use of sage green in outfits from the other thread:-().
This year burgundy was featured in some on my shops in Spring Collections! Burgundy is usually a fall/winter color but I bought me a linen blazer in this color and wore it as an outerwear with a dark brown animal mesh midi skirt (so right up on your color scheme here) and felt fab in early Spring!
And these 2 colors look unexpectedly great together-so advice you to try them together somehow! As my balzer is a linen mix I also plan to pair it with an sage green pastel tinted jeans-or camis under, for cooler summer days.

THUNK. That was me fainting with admiration. No offense to your mother but she is ENTIRELY wrong. That outfit is perfect in every way. The belt is completely amazing and will get so much use. And so is the other belt. Love love wearing the sequin skirt with Docs. And wear the dress more! It’s beautiful! I love these colors so much too but they especially suit you.

Burgundy is one of my favourite colours. This year it has been very plentiful here, with lots of retailers doing burgundy edits. Dark brown, aubergine, wine and raisin have also been available. I love these colours! I’ve been stocking up.

I am super pleased with my new items and have already worn most of them. Some were not essentials (ahem, I did get some burgundy silk mittens) but they all meet the “I love it!” test. My ultimate aim is to have a wardrobe where I love, love, love everything in it.

These are some wears of my new items during May. I enjoy burgundy and brown worn in a moody, tonal way.

1: The dress (Allsaints) is about 2 years old, and I’m ashamed to say this was its first wear. I love the moody abstract pattern but every time I put it on it didn’t feel quite right. It’s partly the colours, which skew a bit grey and cool. The length of the dress was also an issue. Longer than midi but shorter than midaxi. No man’s land. The new burgundy belt (COS) improves things. Firstly, it shortens the dress to a classic midi length. Secondly, the belt, tall burgundy boots (Django & Juliette) and burgundy bag (Zara, last year), warm up the palette. It works much better for me than teaming the dress with black accessories. I wore this to dinner on a mild night. When it gets colder I will wear a burgundy or aubergine pullover over the top, which will be even better because it will get the grey away from my face.

2-3: Two everyday outfits featuring new burgundy cargo pants (Zara). Instant workhorse.

4: New dusty aubergine knit top (Zara). This top won’t be a workhorse but it’s perfect for this time of year when daytime temperatures can still be warmish but days are short and gloomy (only a few days until winter). I was going for a drapey Grecian look. I wore this to lunch with my mum, who didn’t like it

5-6: The new tall burgundy boots, another new burgundy belt (Zara), worn asymmetrically, and new floral skirt (Zara). Burgundy velvet hat (Fallen Broken Street, last year). Burgundy Zara bag (last year). Older deep burgundy silk knit top and new silk mittens (Zara). I wore this to lunch on a mild, drizzly day. I had my packable lightweight burgundy puffer (Uniqlo) in my bag in case needed. A passer-by shouted out a YLF to me :)

7-9: Everyday outfit. New Witchery top. I bought this as a back up for the Saba top in pic 2 and 5 (which is starting to look a bit shabby). The jeans are slim flares/bootcuts that I dyed plum last year. I wear them slouchy. The jacket is a very old navy Zara jacket that I dyed red. It came out a deep aubergine colour, very similar to the Witchery top. I added a pic with my sleeveless puffer vest underneath for Carol, who was asking how we wear vests for warmth. I find the Uniqlo sleeveless puffers handy for layering under jackets at this time of year. They are lightweight, they don’t add bulk and they are easily stashed away. I also like the little pop of texture they add. Tonal or monochromatic outfits can look flat without texture.

10-11: Back to dressy. New burgundy knit top (Country Road). I already have tops in this colour but I was very attracted to the texture of this one. The knit is fairly open and with bare arms underneath it has an interesting sheer boucle look. The burgundy floral ring (Mimco) is also new. I will add a coat or jacket when it gets cooler.

12: Sequin skirt (Zara, last year) and new leather jacket (Allsaints). Both are more reddish in person (the skirt is a deep wine and the jacket is oxblood). Older dark cherry thumbhole jumper, aubergine Docs (last year), burgundy bag (last year). Vintage Trifari necklace (Etsy). I wore this to dinner on the first really cold* night of the year.

*Australian cold. Not Canadian
