I've a strong 70s and punk streak, and enjoy the mod day from time to time myself. So I vote be mod for a day, and just pair with your rocker boots/jackets :D If mod style appeals to you but you want a minimal wardrobe, a mod dress and a pair of tall sleek heeled boots will probably be enough.

I don't think a lot of people can deal with minimal wardrobe and it's okay not be a true minimalist. Even the every day minimalist girl mentioned she liked girly things too much to be a true one. You can just try the minimalism like I do... buying less books and knickknacks and other things that take up space. Clothes make us happy, don't give them up for good! Plus you can purge and just buy quality which will in face encourage a more minimal closet.

Thanks everyone. I think what I like most about mod fashion is dresses & boots. Dresses are easy as they stand alone & wouldn't look bad if I threw my moto over them, when needed for warmth. It is more the footwear to me. I love true mod footwear & I guess I could wear it with my more rocker clothing if I bought any. It is just that my original goal for joining YLF was to see what I could purge. I live in a small place with a small closet & wanted to become a minimalist. Well that required me to learn what was dated & to donate, what to replace with now there are holes & what I like. I am now hooked on YLF & shopping a bit more than I intended, and looking better I'm sure, but I think I need to pick a persona & stick with it if I want a minimal wardrobe. I don't want a minimal wardrobe waahhhh:(

I love you board! Do you feel you really need to mix? It seems like you have a retro style overall, so you can probably do mod some days and more hippy on others. Or you might try boho items in bright, mod-like colors, and maybe they will mix better.

I'm with Mo that I think you should get a dress or a statementy top. A dress can be worn with simple accessories and the top could be worn with simple, timeless jeans or pants. That way, you don't have to really worry about pairing them with other things.

Mod is not really my style either (not because I don't like it, but because it doesn't really like my body type). I do have one dress that is fun though, and like Mo's dress, it stands well on its own.

Oh! Your Pinboard totally speaks to me, Elle!

I think mod plays really well with rocker and punk. Not so good with boho, but you can definitely incorporate mod pieces into a boho look. That's how I'd do it, increasing or lowering volume depending on the day.

Just imagine all those mod girls decked out in Mary Quant looking in their closets in, say 1973. How to change over to full 70's style? Must have been quite a sudden shift in youth-oriented fashion!

As for your wardrobe, I'd encourage you to actually make outfits using a particular Pinterest pin as inspiration. Mary K and several other members have had terrific results doing this.

Also, mod seems to be most about structure and graphic patterns with high contrast color. Boho is soft, with rich textures and natural colors. Perhaps some boho slouchy boots with a mod, structured a-line dress would work? Or a soft boho skirt, worn with a cropped 90's style jacket and some mod style boots?

I'm hugely different from you stylewise, but I find that a little bit of structure, mixed with a little stretch or softness, often results in a pleasing look and a more comfortable outfit for my real life.

I love the Pinterest, I really do think you can mix mod elements in there. I can see you on a boho dress and a mod inspired jacket + booties. Rocker also seems nicely meshed with mod, I mean white shirt and skinny tie with rocker booties and a mod hat!

I didn't check your pinterest board (super slow internet here keeps me from checking most links) but I have a mod dress. I don't have a mod style. The dress stands alone and doesn't really need a lot of pieces to play with it. Boots, flats, heeled sandals, they all work. Get a mod piece or two if your heart desires and don't worry too much about 'integration' with your other styles

Great pinboard Elle! I like just about everything on it. I quite like a mod look, but the only bits I let in are dresses [just above knee aline] becasue they work easily with my other things. I will wear one with my flat moto boots, or pointy toe kitten heels.

I love mod style. I love many retro styles but stayed mostly away from mod because it wont mix with my boho 70s stuff. Maybe some 60s hippy might mix because in the 60s women probably mixed hippy with mod. I'm also rocker, casual. I dunno but I've been seeing lots of cool mod styles by Marc Jacobs & Chanel & I love them. How do I mix my personas? I'm RATE, boho, rocker, retro, punk & love mod but what to do?

Here's my pinterest of what I like. I don't wear it all. I've just been gathering what I like ti understand my style. Apart from a couple of things I hesitated to pin mod styles because I thought they wouldn't go with anything I have. I pinned some fantasy life stuff but I don't think mod would have to be fantasy life for me. It would just mean a bigger wardrobe. Which I don't have room or budget for.
