I also had good success with my turkey! I even got the carving right!

Even though my two college kids had to come home and continue their courses online, I am grateful to have a full house again!

Hubby got laid off earlier in the year and couldn't find anything nearby so accepted a position in a different state right before the pandemic started. We were counting our blessings that for the present he could work from home and after a couple of months into it, his boss offered him to work remotely full time! What a blessing!!

Eldest son just got a job offer to start after he graduates college in the spring!

I am grateful for so many things, one of which is this community. :)

This was the first Holiday meal where every dish I made turned out perfectly. I’m focused on being grateful for health, family, for having a home and food on the table. I wasn’t at all stressed about getting things right, or on time, or satisfying diverse tastes — which may explain why things turned out perfectly.

The tarts look yummy, FashIntern. And do I spy Choco Leibnitz biscuits there too? I seriously love those!!

I defaulted on dessert this year, since it was just the two of us, and picked up a couple of cannoli at our wonderful local market. However I did do a duck breast, with roasted cranberries on the side, and roasted more potatoes than I should have (and they are all gone!) with garlic and onions. Yep, the oven got a workout.

I'm full of gratitude that my family and friends are doing well, and that our nation is headed toward a better path.

Such good lessons here: it is wonderful when they turn out like we hoped, happiness is in the small things, and hooray for proper calibration!

I think this has been my best Turkey so far. Good colour, on time, moist and I didn’t find I had to put it back in the oven after starting to carve, lol :)

I think it’s because I remembered this year that freezing Fahrenheit is 32 degrees and for once I calibrated my thermometer right.

Feeling pleased that the egg wash held the crack in my pumpkin pie crust together well enough to prevent leaks (there's a metaphor for 2020 there, probably), and thankful that my husband wasn't too mad when I accidentally stuck the first batch of his mushroom gravy in a sink full of soapy water. Cheers!

I made pumpkin pies with an all butter crust. One of the pies is in the freezer for later. Our turkey is still in the oven. I’m grateful for my good and kind husband. I’m also grateful our son is a good person, and a contributing member of society. And that he’s in a long term relationship with another good person.

Actually tarts, sweet potato tarts. They were yummy, as was my mushroom dressing/stuffing.

Besides the food, Thanksgiving is a day of gratitude—my son is doing well, and this year things finally seem to be going the way they should have two years ago. For me, it’s also a day of repentance, recalling the actions of my ancestor, Hannah Duston.

What are your favorite foods this time of year? What things in your life are you celebrating or working to overcome?
