I've recently started trying to do a bit more of this by easing myself into it with gold-tone shoes to go with my silver-toned jewelry. It is scary!

I agree with trying to find something that bridges - I found some Nine West sandals that help me feel a little better about it.

I've been mixing gold and silver for ages, but I'll admit it's a scary thing to do sometimes. For dressier events I tend to stick to one or the other, but on a casual look it's a lot easier to do. I've collected a few pieces that combine both gold and silver already, and use those as bridging pieces. Have you looked for pieces like that?

I've always, ALWAYS preferred silver, but recent trends in costume jewellery seem to favour gold and its varieties. I've been aching to get myself a statement bubble necklace, but unfortunately, virtually all of them hang on dainty golden chains. I figure I could skip my usual silver studs to keep the look more uniform on my upper half, but there's no way I would leave the house without my two most beloved pieces: sterling silver Celtic band, and white gold/diamond engagement ring.
Simply put, I'm afraid that such a big, statement necklace on a golden chain would clash with my rings. Am I overthinking it too much? If not, is there any way to work around - any bridging pieces, tips on how to seamlessly mix silver rings with gold around my neck?
