There totally should be a blue toned metal and a green toned metal too. And purple. I'd buy that.

I pretty much just like cool metals (if there was a blue-toned metal I'd be all over that but I avoid gold or rose gold) so everything is silver or pewter by default. I sometimes agonize over how bright the gold is on hardware on boots or bags I'm considering, and have rejected items for gold hardware, even a gold button on tops or jeans. I think it's just a personal eccentricity though.

I used to be very strict about never mixing metals, whether on jewelry, zippers, buttons, hardware, bags and so on. I also wore mostly gold. I have since acquired quite a few silver pieces.

I rarely wear that jewelry mixed, but since I got a rose gold colored Apple watch, I wear that with both gold and silver pieces. I saw a gorgeous mixed metal Turkish piece that I did not buy but am still wishing for, because I thought it would help with metal mixing.

I still won't wear gold jewelry when I have on e.g. a leather jacket with silver zippers.

I do mix metals, but I figure it this way. My wedding set is yellow gold, and my diamonds look "silver," so that's justification enough ; )

That said, I also have no hesitation in wearing copper colored and rose gold colored earrings and necklaces, or colored stones/resins, wood, etc. I pay a lot more attention to how my jewelry coordinates with my clothing color and mood than I do with how it mixes with bag hardware, shoe buckles, etc.

I'll mix, but very intentionally. I do notice, do care, etc and when I do mix, I make sure there is balance. Nothing is random or tossed on ;)

I am also for mixing freely. I used to be concerned that I was transgressing when metals didn't match, but now I get excited by what they can do together. My favourite piece of jewelry just now is my mother's old school ring which just fits on my littlest finger. It has a brass medallion surrounded by silver-tone, and I keep being surprised by just how beautiful I find it. It's one step away from being junk, but I think the mixed-metal design is what saves it.

Love the idea of metallics being neutral--definitely sounds like Stacey London. Also love that I seem to be in the minority on this--maybe I can break out!

*raises hand* I mix all of my metals daily! At minimum my watch is rose gold and wedding band/earrings are white gold/silver, and most often I also wear gold-toned earrings. Rarely give a thought to whether any hardware in shoes, bags, jackets, etc. are the same.

I am just starting to mix metals. Started doing this when I discovered I had totally forgotten about the gold buttons on a jacket, and all my other jewelry was silver. I have always ignored small things like wedding ring because Mine is also white gold and I would really miss not wearing gold earings, necklaces, et.

I wear a gold rings but also wear lots of silver. I've given up trying to match metals or trying to buy hardwear in just gold.

I have a 2-toned wedding ring set and a 2-toned watch. From there, I wear silver or gold jewelry as I see fit. I believe it was Stacy London of TLC's What Not to Wear who said that metallics are neutral and can be mixed and matched. I know I either heard or read it somewhere.

I'm wondering how other people feel about their primary jewelry color matching their watch, handbag/shoe hardware etc.... I always seem to wear silver (wedding band is white gold) and have trouble branching out. I've thought maybe a two toned (i.e.gold/silver) watch would help. Does anyone mix metal tones without giving it a second thought?
