Thanks for the examples! I never dreamed of mixing blues in ways like that, and I kind of like it! I wonder if I will have the courage to try it myself. My eye still has a hard time adjusting to cobalt mixed with some other shades, but it is good to know that I can try it.

Yes! You can mix blues! I try to mix all shades, I even fantasize about mixing reds and one of these days I will pluck up the courage to post a WIWs that is crazy with red.

I think just yesterday Nicole provided a good example of mixing blues as well. Check out her second outfit.

I think navy and cobalt can look stunning together, Echo, so my thumbs are up. In fact, I love mixing all types of blue in one outfit, and was very smitten with Shannon's recent "blue outfit":

<whispers> I mix blues together all the time - in fact, I have "blue on blue" on today, so know you are not alone! :-)

I do agree with Jilly that accessories do make all the difference to the overall look, and I personally also love to wear a bright lipstick to help "lift" my face if I am wearing this colour combo. When I think about it, I have to say I also tend to wear "blue on blue" (particularly darker shades) on cooler days. (I live in a sub-tropical part of Australia, so I'm embracing this cooler weather while it lasts!)

I think you can definitely mix blues. I just think an outfit can look "heavy" if you only have blue. Add some white or pale yellow with accessories - bag, shoes, etc. And you'll be good to go!

I mix blues a lot! Dark Denim with a cobalt top, Navy trousers with all sorts of blue tops. It looks good to me and blues are a great color on me. It has never occurred to me that it might be questionable.

There is often discussion about whether it is acceptable to mix brown and black or blue and black, but what about various shades of blue? Specifically, is it acceptable to mix navy and cobalt, or are they too close for comfort? I realize that just like a two toned piece of jewelry helps the wearer mix pieces in white and yellow metals in other places in the outfit, a top with mixed shades of blue can do the same, but I specifically have a number of either solid navy or cobalt or pieces with one of those colours as the primary background colour and wondered if I could mix them without looking ridiculous. Any photos to illustrate the point would help tremendously.
