Great interview outfit! The pants are very flattering on you and I like the fit of the top. I think the bomber jacket will go great with your sporty style. It seems like a good weight for the temps you are expecting in the UK.

Thankyou ladies!

Suz - glad you approve of my navy jacket....you're quite the expert on navy :)

Chris - This jacket is an Indian brand and I'm afraid you won't get in the the USA. But I don't know much about Indian brands selling in the USA. It's from a brand called People. And it was on very heavy discount. Most winter wear is during summer, especially online. I got it for like $17.

Jaileen - I'm impressed with your sense of observation! Yes, I've worn that top with a skirt before These days, I look for tops that work with everything --- skirts, jeans, pants....As for visa, we have a "casual" interview for visa to UK. It's nothing like the interview they conduct for the USA (which is veryyy grilling, btw). I had to submit my visa application in person, do the biometrics and answer simple questions like - purpose of visit, duration, city of travel etc.

Angie I'm glad you approve of the bomber!!! I'll confess it was a rather spontaneous buy online and I wasn't actually sure I'd even like it (details on fabric were kind of sketchy) but once I wore it, I knew it was just perfect for my wardrobe this season. I'm leaning towards a bit more sporty casual vibe and it works great for my real life. Cosy but lightweight....ideal for our rather mild winter. And I love dainty footwear when I don't have to walk a lot. High Five!

Thanks Rachy!

That interview outfit is really lovely... and as others have said the pants are a great fit.

Same for the bomber...what brand is it? I've been thinking of looking for something similar.

Also like the thought process you described for packing for your trip....especially the part about a denim jacket maybe not being warm enough....those subtle details can be so tricky to sort out so you end up being comfortable! Sounds like you have a good handle on it. I went to Scotland many years ago in early June and ended up wearing every topper I brought (lightweight wool sweater, lightweight fleece jacket, long raincoat) every single day because I hadn't realized how cool it would be.

p.s. what did your little photo-bomber think of your outfit in #1?

Thanks Isabelle. Yes, the jacket is veryyyy lightweight...I simply love it! It's like wearing a cozy sweatshirt, but looks like a sporty jacket that will work well for casual tops, jeans & sneakers outfits. It's really very plain, which is why I got it. My tops are all printed!

I like Uniqlo lightweight jackets and have one. I wear it for walks on chilly windy days. Mine is sleeveless too. But for this trip, I want sleeves. So I can pop the jacket over my summer tops as the temps cools towards evening or early morning.

We don't have Uniqlo in India yet. Everything I have from the brand was either bought in London or Singapore. I'll check their stores in UK and see what they have to offer. I see this jacket is water-proof so that's a HUGE plus. I'll definitely try it out. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks SF. Since this was the first 'wear' for the pants, I have to say I was veryyy impressed with how comfy they were. Definitely intend to wear them more often now

The bomber is a good idea, and good fit, is it lightweight ?

Another idea : some of my co-workers swear by the uniqlo light down jackets (there are also sleeveless ones), really light as a feather, warm, and collepsible in their little pouch
http://www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/14639000008

Black pants and white blouses are so serviceable for occasions like this, yours look good.

I agree...I look good in these pants!!! I think this outfit will become another workhorse. Now that I no longer think of trousers as 'formal' only, I'm sure I'll be able to mix & match several of my tops with these. (In the past, I wore trousers with shirts only. Didn't have smart tops like this one that don't have to be tucked in)

Hi Ladies

I had my visa interview for the UK today. I wanted to wear something simple but wanted to feel confident & authentic in my outfit. I chose a black & white combination.

Ive owned the trousers for 3 years and never worn them! They're from my 'fantasy life' but I dont really need dress pants often IRL. They seemed perfect for today. I added my new H&M top and zara sandals. These pics are from my try-on session yesterday so not accessorized. I wore a red pendant necklace and my gold+silver Balmain watch, and carried my new white bag. The interview went well....now just waiting for my passport to come back with the visa!

On a different note, I identified a wardrobe hole last winter - a casual navy blue jacket. I have a sleeveless vest from zara but that only works over sweaters. For the upcoming trip to UK, I want to carry just 2 jackets. My travel capsule is mostly black & navy, and my denim jacket might not cut it because I'd be too cold to wear that at 12-13deg C. I want both jackets I carry to be able to pull their weight, so got this navy bomber on deep discount. I like the fit. It's very soft & cozy with a thin fleece lining inside. It's perfectly sporty, which is just what I need in my wardrobe....something that looks good with sneakers.

PS: it's not styled here. I'm wearing it over nightwear! I was too excited to see it when it came and just had to try it immediately to ensure it fit)

It's tough for me to find jackets that look good open as well as closed. With my large bust, I usually size up and then the jacket hangs awkwardly when left open. This jacket has stretch because of the knit fabric on the sleeves & back, so it actually looks good open too!

What do u think?
