Hi Kafe --

I'm a big fan of the sophisticated way Missoni uses color and pattern -- which does not mean I love all their items -- and have to say IMO that is one gorgeous scarf! Since you picked it to suit your coloring I bet it looks like a million on.

There have always been inexpensive knockoffs of Missoni -- in fact I think some YLFers have a dress that similar to the the brand's style -- so while I understand the disappointment in feeling as if you might seem less than unique I wouldn't let the Target collaboration pieces dampen your enjoyment.

Missoni actually sells off their leftover fabric, and luckily for me some of it ends up on the US West Coast. Since the RTW is way out of my budget I'm fortunate enough to have had several custom items made up for me -- including some in their Lurex (metallic thread) fabric.

I'm sure there are some purists who think that's "cheating," ha, but I think it's nice there are multiple ways for people to access the brand's beautiful work -- via the brand itself, through the fabric, or through something like the Target line.

[I was actually hoping to pick something up from the Target line, but alas, nothing really appeals so others will have to enjoy for me.]

I actually have finer and sturdier Missoni fabrics and the delicate ones -- like your scarf -- have something very special about them. Enjoy the craft and colors of your new purchase!

MNsara, yes, that does look like the scarf I just got. Scarf sisters! I chose pink because pinks look best with my skin tone (as well as muted colors).

I hope to take a modeling picture today, but it's so dark from the hurricane that's coming. Soon!

Thanks for all the posts. Everyone is so friendly and helpful here.

Kafe - yours is beautiful and the designer for Target merchandise is always a different fabrication than the direct designer items.

It's a great opportunity for folks to pick up fun items at Target prices, but so far there has always been a big difference in construction and fabric.

Yours will probably be a soft wool blend, drape beautifully, not pill, not curl or stretch, and look gorgeous years and years from now :-)

Your scarf pattern looks like one I got recently in drab neutrals (a personal fave) (in the upper right corner - see the border!), so we can be scarf sisters

Your scarf is gorgeous - the Target line has a very specific color/stripe pattern. From what I've seen, I don't think those patterns and colors are as beautiful as your scarf.

Believe me, that scarf does not look like it came from Target. It is a treasure. I treated myself to a Missoni scarf last winter. It gives me so much pleasure. They are such a genius with color.

Hi again Karen! I agree with the others. I doubt Missoni would have the same pattern on a scarf at Target, even in cheaper fabric. You are safe for sure.

Can you take a picture of yourself with it on? I'll bet bet it looks striking with your features and coloring!

Kafe, I am running home to pick something up in a couple hours and I will try to snap a couple photos for you.

I think once you see and feel the line in person at Target you will understand the differences I mentioned. It looks more subtle online, but will be evident in person. By no means am I saying the Target line is poor quality. In fact I expect higher quality than some other Target and designer collaborations. There are differences between mass marketed items and designer products produced in small batches and I think you will appreciate that extra attention to detail.

DressLover, you got me all excited with "highest end label." I just picked one I liked and went for it. It's wool and has tiny silver and gold threads running through it. I took the pictures in bright sun, so the threads aren't showing. I'm looking forward to wearing it.Which scarves do you have? I was so interested in all the Missoni scarves while I looked around. There is a square silk one that caught my eye too.

Diana and MsMaven, you can bet I will be at Target comparing.

thunalata, how nice of you to remember me from my SAHM post.

That is an orange label scarf, which is Missoni's highest end label. I have a few myself and the quality is astonishing. I guarantee the material and quality will be higher than Target and the pattern design more complex. I believe the Target scarves will be a thinner silk-like material for the square scarves and a cotton/poly/wool blend for the chunkier knits. I don't think they will have this thin, refined knit as it is very expensive to produce.

Wear this investment piece in confidence!

Just an amusing share.....

This summer I decided I wanted a scarf for the upcoming cooler weather and looked around until I found something I liked. I tend to like things I don't see everywhere I turn and sometimes gravitate towards European brands. I found a Missoni scarf, shelled out some money, and was thrilled I could soon strut around in an Italian scarf.

I don't watch tv or read a lot of fashion magazines so I was shocked when I very recently found out Target was going to have "Missoni for Target" soon. My scarf will now look like I ventured to Target to get it. Nothing wrong with Target scarves...... but I wanted to be different. What are the odds? Ah well, I still look forward to wearing my scarf.

Does this link work? It should be a link to my flickr set with 4 pictures in it.....
