The one you got is so cute! Good for you and thanks for the tip on seeing Edita for swimsuits.
How interesting that there is another Edita. I am familiar with the dancer named Edita from Dancing With the Stars, and I thought that was such an unusual name, and now another Edita.

Hi Donna, I went up one size; my clothing size is 8 and I got the suit in a 10.

I don't have any exotic beach vacation planned (sadly) but needed a new suit that I can where at any location, pool or beach, in any setting. I wish I had several suits, but I only own this one now since I literally wore my old one to shreds. Now that I had such a good experience with the Gottex one I think I'll invest in another one next year. They sure have plenty of cute styles to pick from!

Antje - Love the one you found! I bet it looks great on you, but more importantly you feel great in it. I'd be interested to know how the sizing of the Gottex is. Did you go up one size?

Hope you have plans to go somewhere exotic to enjoy your lovely new suit.

YAY for you Antje! Gottex is a lovely brand out of Israel with a load of respect in the industry.

And the prints & cuts of their suits are so pretty they can be eye candy. I'm so glad you found a solution. It always feels good to check something off the list!

Antje - that first Gottex has got to be one of the cutest bathing suits I've ever seen! Love it!

I had a similar experience two years ago. I got a one-piece Miraclesuit online from Eddie Bauer, and it was one of the few suits I found that came in "DD" cups. It made all the difference in the world. I had never felt comfortable in a bathing suit before, and I've now worn it many times. I can't believe what a difference the right fit makes. I also never realized you had to size up so much in a bathing suit. That really helps, too.

Now I just need a few tropical vacations to put the suit to use. (Sigh.)

I'm glad you had such a great swimwear shopping experience yesterday. It certainly can be traumatizing.

I couldn't see the one you purchased because swimwear & lingerie sites are blocked here at work, but with swimwear the most important thing is your comfort in it, and it sounds like you got that.

What a great idea about using a minidress for a coverup!

Yes, Angie, Gottex to the rescue! I found my way to Nordies yesterday and had a GREAT experience. The service was excellent (this was in the downtown Seattle store, Edita is the person in charge of swimwear, and she sure knew her stuff) and I tried on a number of one-pieces. In the end I settled on a Gottex one, unfortunately it's not on online on the Nordies site, but here it is, except that on mine the ruffle is turquoise - which I'm so very fond of right now:
https://www.southbeachswimsuit.....BrowseBy=1
It's super cute and flattering and practical, so I'm ecstatic that my second hardest shopping item is now checked off!! (The hardest will be the jeans, which are still underway.)

The runner-up bathing suit, by the way, was this style but as a one-piece.
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/29.....rchresults
Sooo cute! (And it did does look fine with a smaller chest, even if the picture doesn't make you think that.) But it was a bit more "fussy" than the Gottex one, and not quite as flattering in the mid section, so I passed.

If anyone in the Seattle area is shopping for swimwear, I highly recommend a visit with Edita in the downtown Nordies. She was really great, totally got what I was after and very helpful. She even managed to find me an alternative cover-up; I was mildly interested in one but found the prices of cover-ups in the swimwear department outrageous. She scouted me a little min-dress in the BP department that looks just like a cover-up and only cost a third of the price of what she was selling in her section, so she made me a happy customer :-)

Sorry for the long post, but I at least find swimwear shopping somewhat traumatizing, so I had to share a good experience and successful outcome!

Take a look at Land's End. They have a wonderful selection, and you can buy by cup size or type of cup in some of the styles. Last week all their suits were 25% off, and I bet that will happen again. The best thing is that you can make returns to any local Sears. These suits are not as constricting as the Miraclesuit, yet they are made for different body issues.

Antje on "Miraclesuit question"

Well, sadly I think Miraclesuit is not for me, indeed. I received the 3 other styles/sizes I had ordered (including the Sonatina, Angie), so now I tried 5 different models, in 10s and 12s, with and without underwire, in different cuts and stylings, and all of them had the same problem in the chest area. It was most obvious in the solid non-black ones, and least obvious in the patterned ones, but it still was obvious in all of them. I felt like I had forgotten to put in my fake boobs or something.

I'm bummed because the fit everywhere else is insanely flattering. (Carissa, I looked at the Miraclesuit because it is very flattering around the mid section, which I feel quite self-conscious about in a bathing suit. Angie had recommended it and I totally understand why - it gave my body a wonderful shape and really flattened the belly while accentuating the waist, so it was all "good curves"; the only problem is that while I'm quite curvy in the hips/butt, I am just not curvy in the chest and the Miraclesuit seems to assume you are.)

So in summary, I recommend the Miraclesuit highly to curvy hourglasses with a medium to big chest. As for myself, though, I have to look elsewhere...

Any other recommendations for flattering bathing suits for my body shape?

I was unaware of purchasing another size up in MiracleSuit. I usually try on my normal size. I don't own any of them because they are so incredibly hard to get in and out of, OMG. They are designed to be tight with a firm hold so the body looks 'miracled'. You may need a different style, a different size, or a different manufacturer.

Also I do think MiracleSuit's proportions are for the more 'curvy' and sometimes mature - which can translate to more curvy body type.

No alterations to swim unless they are very basic fixes (making a bikini back tighter). A local lingerie retailer here in Dallas has six sewing machines in the back (they provide free alterations) and sells swim, MiracleSuit included, yet doesn't alter swimwear. The fabric is too tricky.

At a size 8 with a small chest Antje I have to inquire why you're looking at MiracleSuit? Are you looking for something specific that brand provides?

Shoot, it's too bad this style doesn't work for you as I have a suit like it and it is quite flattering and comfortable. I also have this suit http://www.figleaves.com/us/pr.....=MIR-76029 and it is really chic. It has underwires so it might fit a bit differently, and there are no foam pads.

I love the Sonatina Angie mentioned.

Rotten luck. Hmmmm. My suggestion would be to try a different style. I would not have the cups removed. Have you tried the "Sonatina"?

I'm shopping for a bathing suit, and received the first two of the Miraclesuits I ordered. I love the cut and color of this (this cut but in a vibrant turquoise: http://www.figleaves.com/us/pr.....%3A56%3A00), it's really really flattering around the midsection.

BUT here is the problem: It's made for someone with bigger breasts. It has these sewn-in fabric cups that are way too big for the circumference and size of my breasts. I sized up two sizes per Angie's recommendation (my clothing size is 8, so I ordered the suit in 12), which fits fine overall but not in the chest area. You can totally see those fabric thingies flopping emptily around my breasts, it's quite hideous. Yikes. I'm not usually self-conscious about my small chest but this feels real awkward.

The fabric thingies don't look like they can easily be removed, and at the price of the suit I'm loathe to experiment.

Maybe size 10 will be a little better (I have one in a different style in size 10 on the way) but it's hard to imagine that it will completely fix it.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any remedies?? Or do different Miraclesuit cuts fit differently and have different size breast "shields"?
