Thanks for explaining, Anna. I was wondering in part because I haven't really been into florals--or so I thought--until the last year or so, when I found myself sewing several floral items. And I had been wondering lately how long they'll appeal to me.

Sorry, it took so long to get back.
I was heavily invested into spring florals for about 2-3 years. I feel I've done enough with them.
Shoes, I haven't quite figured out, though I will probably sell my gold Isabel Marant sneakers, also some rosy pink See by Chloe wedge sneakers.
Re: my size. About six years ago I lost over 30 pounds, just as I got involved with YLF. I kept it off for over five years, which is supposed to be the magic time. I'm still down over 35 pounds from my all time life high. So all is not lost. Though yes I am hugely frustrated that currently I'm sized out of most designer stuff. But maybe it's just as well. Very high designs have lost their luster for me. I find myself more interested in smaller designers, not necessarily the cheapest stuff. But I think they're off-kilter enough to last for several seasons.

I'm interested, for sure! Thanks for sharing the process with us. Why are the florals gone? Are they outdated or you're just tired of them and ready for something else? I would think they could mesh with the denim direction. Not a criticism in the least, just curious about your transition.

First, condolences on not losing the weight you wanted to lose. It is so hard to do, especially as the human body tends to want to regain any weight loss (plus more). Do not feel bad about this as this is what study, after study, after study has shown (if you ever want to read them, I can send them to you). An unspoken thing on this is your love of designers, and how quickly you can be sized out once you are a size 10 or so despite 65% of American women being a size 14 or higher (from the Inge post a few weeks back). I hope you will take to heart that they are to blame for not making clothes that fit their customers. You'll find other fabulous labels that do.

Second, I am always excited to hear about someone's style journey. It sounds like you are moving to a new place, and I can't wait to see it. You have always had such cutting edge style. While that isn't me, and probably never will be, I do enjoy living vicariously through you :)

Sounds like you've been hard at work purging. I get the feeling that you have quite a bit of clarity as to what you want at the moment, or rather what you don't want. I admire your resolve to purge so much. The denim additions sound great too. Great job!

Put me on the interested list for sure!

Five out for every one in is kind of impressive (says the borderline hoarder). I have the impression of a more neutral-colored wardrobe. What is your palette now?

I'm also curious to know your feelings. Are they happiness? Discontent? Relief at downsizing? Or anxiety? Excited anticipation at the re-defining? I find I tend to go through cycles of purging and streamlining, and generally experience all of these emotions, before I get to the relief-and-happiness portion of the downsizing & redefining process.

(Please disregard that last paragraph if I'm being presumptuous and/or if you're disinclined to talk about personal feelings on a public forum!)

Interesting. I'm also in a denim phase, but now want to get out of it for awhile. It's all I've been wearing and I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut - and I TOO can't fit into or don't like the way I look in half of my clothes. Summer always freaks me out style-wise. It's easier to hide in your clothes in the winter. I did the costume jewellery purge a few months ago too, and haven't felt one twinge of regret. Nothing coloured and nothing trendy in my collection anymore. You're making me think the belt collection is next. I never, ever, wear any of them anymore. Thanks for the inspo.

I'm interested. That's a lot of purging and some big decisions that you have made with your style. Hopefully you will feel happy with the results.

I am curious about your belts? How did you decide which to purge? I realized this morning that I have an over-abundance of belts. For example, I have 8 cognac jeans belts. They are all slightly different, but not that different! For whatever reason, I never went through and purged any. I'm toying around with trying the Kondo method.

I've been wearing less costume jewelry and more of my real stuff, and mostly earrings, not necklaces. I also need to clean up my earring and necklace tree.

I eyed a cute patchwork clutch the other night at an artsy benefit sale event. I normally feel like patchwork is too boho for me, but it's growing on me again. Looking forward to seeing you style these patchwork pieces! I had a vintage patchwork leather jacket about 10 years ago that I loved for a while and then gave to one of my stepsons' girlfriends. Kinda wish I still had it!

I've sold both of my more distressed TR Camerons. They are replaced by my TR patchwork Audreys. I'm into patchwork right now. If you check net-a-porter there is a fringe trend of patchwork from the likes of saint Laurent Philip lim and others.

Interesting shift -- I look forward to seeing where this takes you (and intrigued to see whether you follow through on your haircut idea, which I think can solidify a shift too!).

I hear you on having a good portion of your closet that does not currently fit. :-/ I am feeling more loyal to some of my favorite pieces these days, and more aware of how some things in my wardrobe are just too much work to style, or are just not physically or emotionally comfortable. A bit ashamed of a couple of things (waxed skinnies for one) that did not get worn at all this past winter, as I don't expect to wear them next winter unless I lose weight again. Perhaps I should do another closet edit, maybe in a few weeks when my schedule frees up.

So I think at least one person was interested in how my style is shifting.
I've already purged all my florals, except the green floral silk jumpsuit.
Next was pretty much all my colored skinny denim, which had a lot of pastels. My patterned jeans went too.
At least 1/3 my belts, mostly the very wide ones and a few super skinny ones.
Pretty much all my graphic tees.
All my cheap statement necklaces, some of my bracelets are gone. I haven't quite decided on the more expensive stuff.
I have been shopping a bit here and there. The denim/chambray dresses, Acne white shirt dress, Teva flatforms, oxford mules, suede slingback wedges, and point flat cut-out shoes, light grey wool sweater, and button front grommet jeans.
But I think it stands at five items or so out for every one in.
Right now I'm not losing weight as hoped, so I don't fit into about 1/2 my closet. But I have very little free time to wear real clothes, so...
As I predicted I'm wearing mostly denim and the ilk. Repeating outfits more.
