Goodness, I hope so, because that's one of my three most well-used winter silhouettes. My short skirts are heavy, structured denim (one black, one indigo), mid-thigh like you describe, and I wear them with either short, heeled ankle boots or tall, flat boots. I wear them with dark "sweater" tights and a dark, sleek top, usually. Because they are denim, they don't stick to the tights. I used to have a heavy cotton twill one in burgundy, but I had to wear a slip to keep it from clinging to the tights, which meant I always chose the a denim one over the burgundy one. I will ALWAYS choose no slip, if that's an option!

Anyway, yes, I don't see why you can't wear a short skirt with tights and boots in the winter.
It really depends on the weight of the fabrication and your personal tolerance for this kind of thing. For example, if it is denim weight -- well, sure! But if it is thin, you might want to rethink. But I admit I am a fusspot about what I consider seasonal confusion. Makes me crazy.

The other consideration is that some cotton fabrics will stick to the tights and you will not be comfortable. Tights tend to work best if there is a lining...I guess you could try a slip, but then you'll get into bunching. Not nice.

From what you've said, I'd say it's worth giving it a try. It might work brilliantly!

Is it weather appropriate to wear a heavy cotton miniskirt with stockings, maybe flat boots, in fall or winter? I'm really enjoying the silhouette of the skirt, but as the weather (in the Southern Hemisphere) is starting to turn to cold (think between 50-65 degrees) I'm wondering if this can be made cold weather appropriate, or if it is simply wrong for the changing seasons. Maybe with a turtleneck for a slightly mod look? Black tights? Textured stockings? Double nude fishnets?

Skirt length is about mid-thigh, for reference - nothing tarty, but well above the knee, kind of like a short pencil skirt effect. Thanks!
