I'm not a fan of the very skinny heel with jeans that cover the shoe (I think a chunkier heel looks better for that), but you can get extra height from a shoe with a 1" platform under the toe. IF the French can do it, then so can I!!!<br /> You are taller, you should be fine with flats if you want.
