I totally get what you mean about trying too hard. Some people pull them off splendidly, but not me. Funny, I just made the same decision regarding a pair of leather hi-top Chucks. &nbsp;I bought them because of repeated posts about leather hi-tops here on the forum - but the longer they say in my closet still unworn, the easier it was to decide that they are just not me. I had that same "clown feet' response to the Chucks as you did to the Stand. &nbsp;I felt like I was trying too hard &nbsp;to look young and cool - which is not the vibe I want to give off. I did not bother taking pictures -- it was an easy decision. </p> <p>It's been a long time since I wore Adidas sneakers (a decade at least, probably more) and WOW did these feel like bricks. Definitely heavier than Chuck Taylors, with a thicker, stiffer sole. I'm sure they break in over time, but I'm not willing to break in a pair of sneakers when there are plenty out there that are comfortable out of the box (I'm on what's quite possibly my final pair of Chucks for the same reason). </p> <p>Also -- something about the roundness and the chunkiness of the Stan Smith silhouette does not look very flattering on my 10" long D-width feet (my feet are already disproportionate to my 5'4" self). I wear a lot of funky shoes without any hesitation, but these really did make me feel like I was wearing clown shoes -- the white pair just as much as the floral. Definitely has to do with the shape.&nbsp;</p> <p>Final note -- they're shinier than they appear in the stock photos, which made them look a little cheap and plasticky to me. Also, I just don't really do shiny.
