I was still wearing my festive metallics and cranberries until Epiphany. 1. Glen check slim pants (I decided the red stripe was too tiny to count) and cashmere roll-neck tunic (found in the hat and scarf bin at the thrift store!) 2. Bootcuts and my beloved buffalo check sweater from Joe Fresh. Saw it on YLF years ago when a poster complained that her friend mocked it as a "picnic tablecloth", and immediately had to have it! 3. Animal print longsleeved T, black jeans and cardi for a chilly Saturday at home. Sorry for photos, I don't have a good mirror setup at home any more. 4. First wear of a linen blend wrap skirt my daughter thrifted for me. My HEWI fisherman turtleneck is maybe a bit slouchy for this but I wanted to be cozy. 5. -14'C, so lined tweed pants and mohair cowlneck with a silk cami under. 6. Ponte skinnies, fleece vest, and striped shirt with French cuffs. (The bow is my mask on backwards.) 7. Houndstooth pants and white shirt under black sweater. Do you prefer it tucked or untucked? I like both, but surprised to see that tucked has a leg lengthening effect (I've never been convinced that that works when thighs are longer than calves, but today it seemed to.) All outfits worn with long black puffy coat and fingerless gloves, white or black beret, and black booties or snow boots. I realized I depend very much on the weather report to get dressed for the day. Snow on ground or expected means skinnies or crops that can tuck into snow boots easily, and hems compatible with indoor office footwear. Clear dry streets permit booties that can be kept on indoors, so heels can match longer hems. Below -10' temps demand warm bottoms and layers. I can keep going for at least another week on black and white alone, although a few items may repeat. I am enjoying the clean crisp feel after all the colours of Christmas.
