They say that the death of such a family member can be worse than confrontation/ estrangement because there's no 'true' closure to it. Be patient &amp; kind with yourself as you process the many traumas this will likely unveil when you least expect it. </p> <p>Just a gentle reminder that no emotions that you or your partner experience in this time are 'wrong' emotions - they just are. This is not the case for either myself or my husband. In addition to the death itself, we are left processing the trauma of our lives with our parents. There are not a lot of good memories or feelings to reflect back on. Both his mom and my dad had long, drawn out illnesses and needed extended care which was left up to the family members. He is of the same mind that I am in wanting to get on to a new normal, and feeling bad that he doesn’t really feel bad or sad about his mother’s passing. Her illness has been so stressful on the family that I am looking forward to a time that we can create a new normal again. We’ve had three deaths in the family this year. I’m ready to celebrate my coworkers new bundle of joy that’s coming soon. </p>
