Good news! My MIL is going home this afternoon. She has been in hospital for 5 days and she has been improving daily. I cannot tell you how much she wants to go home (home is an aged care facility) and get back to some lovely 'home' cooked meals, apparently the hospital food was a bit average. She will continue her treatment via oral antibiotics. Thanks again for your kind thoughts, it has been quite worrying.

You are all so thoughtful, you make me cry. My MIL is doing much better. She may be in hospital for a couple more days but she is improving and is more herself. They are still having some trouble greeting her temperature to me here it should be, but they are very attentive and I saw her specialist who won't be letting her go home until he is happy with her progress. We are visiting daily and she is in good spirits. xxx

So sad to hear this news, will keep you all in my prayers.

In one sense perhaps she is better being in the ER as they tend to be checked on constantly there even if they have already been diagnosed and are being held for an available room. They also tend to have a really gentle hand in the ER when people are in this situation.

Thanks again. Apparently when DH left last night they were going to move my MIL onto a ward i.e. out of emergency. When we phoned this morning, she was still in Emergency. DH wasn't happy because if we had known one of us would be have stayed with her. Anyway she has now been transferred to our other hospital and she is resting comfortably. Final diagnosis appears to be pneumonia but I haven't had confirmation yet. This is quite concerning as this tends to be quite serious for people her age. Im at work but hoping to be able to go and see her soon.
