Well Joy I hope that you make the age of Eirlys at least so that’s more than 10 years! But I think I agree that it’s unlikely that we would ever stop updating our wardrobes if our health permitted that to be an interest. That was partly how I knew that my lovely patient was fading, she was the 88 year old I so admired in the jewel colours, and then I went to her 90th, but 2-3 years later her memory was going and style fading

Elizabeth, yes, there is always room for improvement. I started out wanting to develop a forever ( well, for me that’s probably 10 years being optimistic) wardrobe then finally realized that there is no such thing. It needs attention and regular updating each season.

This is inspirational Joy... I am at the point of overflowing my closet, and I think I read you post in just the right mood to be motivated to cull rather than start morphing into other spaces.

I love how you describe getting pickier as well.
It always surprises me, as I've always thought of you having such a fab wardrobe. But I guess there is always room for improvement. Good for you!

Bonnie, much like you I did a lot of wardrobe give sways before moving knowing that I would have less room (5 bedrooms to 2!). But I was unsure about the new climate and culture. Although both pls explain had 4 seasons, there are big differences, more than I expected. I was hoping just wearing would reduce my wardrobe size naturally, but I need to be more aggressive . I should not even look at what I think of looking at summer clothing as that was my dominate season before moving.

I like your goal of keeping all of your clothes in one closet. I am trying to do the same thing. I gave away a lot before the move in December and another box last month. They were mostly items that were not being worn. Have fun shopping this summer!

Robin, I have to be pickier than in the past. There is less closet space and I keep as a goal not putting my clothes in the guest room closet. That means putting what was once spread through 4 bedroom closets in one that is shared with DH. Anything new needs to be worthy of a hanger or place on a shelf. So if considering something, I have to ask myself what I am willing to get rid of to have it.

I am intrigued by the plastic jeans. I am with you about trying to be pickier, I find since YLF I am pickier just because I think things through a bit more and don't make as many spontaneous purchases.

Karen, you are so right, the more petite you are the faster a weight change can mean a size change.
Torontogirl, thank you for your kindness. I hope going forward I will make good choices.. I am getting better at being picky.

Nice work Joy - Your WIWs continue to look fabulous, so you are indeed in a good wardrobe place! And this reminds me I need to do some editing too. A few persistent extra pounds makes a big difference in comfort and fit for us petite people and I am commiserating with many of the YLFers in the same boat.

Suz, I have also gained about 8 pounds but at my size it seems like more. I am open to A-lines but we will see. I don’t think any weight went to my skinny legs so they may still look very thin under an A-line skirt, it if it is soft it may work well.
Angie, I have another pile of mostly jeans for DDIL to look at and try. Then what is left is going to a thrift shop. I still need a big try on of tops but most still fit. It is more of deciding if I still want to wear them. Thank you for your support!

Excellent report, Joy. I like your matter of fact attitude and also, that is amazing about the jeans!

How are you feeling about A-lines these days? I remember you and I both decided a few years back that they did not do us a lot of favours. Since then, I have gained about 10 pounds and I notice it makes a difference -- I can wear A-lines again. But they do have to be the right A-lines, and the length is key. Anyway, it's one small silver lining with a bit of weight gain (for me, at least) and I wondered if that is also true for you.

Joy from seeing your WIW's - you have an enviable wardrobe and so adding slowly and carefully makes a lot of sense. I love how you have found those jeans and are thinking about how and where items are made. The pendulum is definitely shifting towards more ethical and sustainable fashion.

Glory and Rachylou, the jeans may no longer be available at Walmart.. They are Time & Tru brand . Mine are colors like turquoise, watermelon, light aqua and peach. There may also be white and denim blue.
If they can make polyester out of discarded plastic bottles that is like fleece and denim, they should expand to other fabrics. It may help clean up the ocean.

Like Suz I have been thinking about my wardrobe. It is in pretty good shape for any occasion and I have not bought much. Most have been replacements for low waist pants.
Along the way I found a few other things like booties, several of which are replacements.
I have some insulin-induced weight gain to deal with and waistlines of my older things don’t always fit. I got rid of an armload of skirts, mostly pencil skirts. They have not been replaced as I probably have enough. I am looking for summer 2-piece dresses that will fit with my wardrobe.
Now that the weather has finally gone from winter to cool spring, I need to get back to evaluating what to keep and what should go.
I am trying to be more careful about the environment and worker conditions when buying. Most of my newest jeans are made with plastic bottles. They feel like normal cotton twill fabric and wash beautifully. If you see them don’t hesitate to try them. I am in the habit of not using the dryer to dry jeans so these have only been air dried. Mine are from Walmart of all places on sale for $5 each. I saw them when hunting for plastic Easter eggs to fill. Next year will probably be the year for replacing tops. Since I did not buy anything for a couple of months I am still on track with three new items a month or 36 for the year.
