I may be a bit bias since I have way too many shoes, but is there such a thing as too many shoes? If the metallic shoes work for you, then don't question it. LOL!!.

I don't think there is such thing as too many metallic shoes or bags! It's just your version of "tan" or "grey".

VernieJane, those are fun -- and flashy! I definitely save flashier shoes for more subdued outfits.

deb, you're right. I have multiple pairs of black shoes, my most worn color of footwear. Some work better with flares (like my Fluevog pointy toed booties), and some with straights/skinnies (the Ugg Cortonas both with and without without spats). But the Fluevogs and Cortonas, as much as I love them, are very matte and flat, and sometimes I'd like a little more kick in my "black" booties. I like the way these would work equally well with straights/skinnies and flares, and even with a skirt or dress since the ankle is slim and fitted.

UmmLila, the blue booties aren't metallic, but they do have a bit of sheen in the stingray texture, which certainly does give a little hint of that metallic feel. Those blue booties are another big favorite, and I like that these new ones have a similar vibe.

I wear so many dark simple bottoms (jeans, black pants) that even when I want to continue the long leg line with dark footwear, I still like a little extra subtle pattern and shine.

Yes! Metallic booties! I've been wanting a pair but I am afraid I only THINK I will like them... also have been wearing a low heel the past couple of years and looking for something with spark... I have my eye on these ones I found online at Rubbersole but they are a bit flashy!!!

Question.....I believe you have more than 3 pair of any other color shoe, so why not metallic boots?? This seems perfectly logical to me. And those boots are beautiful!

They are beautiful and look like your style.
Furthermore: it would be good to give your black ones a break sometimes. I think it's wise not to wear the same pair of shoes daily; they need time to rest. ;)
Too many metallic shoes? Really? I hadn't heard of such a thing.

These are just a few thoughts that come to mind. . . .

Nope, you don't need them, they are not filling a wardrobe hole.

BWAAAAAAA!!!!! Gotcha!

They are fabulous. And very different than what you already have. I think they'll end up as workhorses actually. Care to provide a link? :).

Metallic makes such a great neutral - I'm still disappointed at just missing the silver Pettys earlier this season.

You've actually answered your own question. You have metallic booties you can't wear the way you want to. So you" need " ( meaning is fine to buy boots boots) that meet other wearability criteria.
So, you are boot shopping and it's just a matter of choosing what you need--fit, heel height. If these are the ones, it's not important if others are metallic. I won't even say how many types of black footwear I have!
And then , I discovered dark red/ Cordovan footwear as a good semi- neutral for me, but of course theres heel height, vamp, and may soon be asking the question, how many pairs of those is too many?
You can always think through the Mo numbers , or splitting wears, just to understand if you have 2 just alike, but sounds like they're for different occasions.

No such thing as too much metallic. I like these. And I like the shine element that metallic brings to an outfit. I had kind of been looking for pointy black patent boots but it now occurs to me that metallic could work in a similar way. Aren't your blue pointy boots kind of metallic, too?

Nope Janet, you need these. I'm with you on the R&B height only being for special occasions. These fill a gap...and since you asked, the formula I use for answering the question is x=n+1, where n is the number of items you currently have I suppose there is a budget factor as well...

Geez, Janet - there is no such thing as too many metallic of anything, you should know that :) Those are cool boots and I so hear you about the R&B heel now. I used to be able to wear mine all day long - walking and standing and doing just about anything. Now - and only what, 3 seasons in? - I can't stand to wear them for longer than a couple of hours unless I'm sitting the whole time. This aging thing sucks.

I am quite happy with my shoe and boot collection at the moment, but I have been definitely favoring my lower heeled options lately, and in fact, I've sold a few of my high-heeled pairs that I have had for many years and no longer wear. I've also been wearing the heck out of my black booties, and sometimes I would like to wear something with a little more pizazz… but still keep it sleek and refined, very walkable, and not *too* statement-y.

I spotted these Elie Tahari booties (photo 2) and they grabbed me as something a bit more distinctive, with a very walkable heel and a refined shape (love the pointy toe chelsea style!), and a lovely gunmetal texture that is a great black/grey alternative. I've been looking at them for a month or so, and finally decided to try them. They fit great and look very nice, and so far they seem comfortable (I haven't yet really tried them around the house for long).

Here's the thing. I have two other pairs of metallic boots: I have the Rag & Bone Newburys in gunmetal crinkle (photo 1), and I love them, but the heel on those is a little high for me these days. I've worn them for full days including plenty of walking in the past, but now I'm only feeling them for maybe four-hour wears. I also have a pair of shiny reptile textured Ara booties (photo 3 is close, not the exact same as my pair, but it gives you an idea) that are extremely comfortable, but just a bit too dressy for my everyday looks, plus they're quite shiny and make more of a statement than I am looking for in many cases. They also don't play very well with straight or skinny jeans -- they are reserved more for flares. I really haven't worn them very much.

I don't think I'd get rid of the R&B's or the Aras, because they do serve other purposes, but am I nuts to get another pair of metallic boots? Feel free to tell me if so, or justify the purchase if not. ;-)
