I had a small-ish wedding, overlooking the ocean - but everyone went very formal. It was kind of neat that way - waves crashing, the sun setting, and everyone dressed to the nines even though it wasn't supposed to be an overly formal event at all. </p> <p>What kind of venue are you planning? How many people? What time of day? I got married at 4pm in early spring, and by the time the champagne was poured and appetizers were served, the sun was starting to set over the ocean. If it was noon, then I'd go for cognac shoes instead of black.
