Ah. I have a client who is shaped similarly to your son. Have you tried Hugo Boss (both regular and slim fit) - they are expensive :(

BR slim fit is a good idea. Try Club Monaco and H&M too.

Yes, he is fairly broad in the shoulders and chest but very slim in the waist and hip. His jeans are a 34" and he wears them low like the younger men do. We bought a nice suit two years ago that fit in the shoulder and its been almost as much to repeatedly alter the torso as it cost in the first place. Not to mention that the pants were absolutely huge. He is picking up two new custom made suits this afternoon. The fabrication isn't stellar but the fabrics are very nice and the fit is perfect.

I borrowed a shirt from my partner for him to try on to get an idea if the slim or ultra slim BB would work. I have read that the Tyrwhitt slim fits about the same as the super slim BB but also read that a few people considered the BB better quality.

Ah. A 44 or 46 size suit is not a small size. So I am wondering where the fit challenges are - barrel chest and slim torso? Does DS wear a size large?

Seconding Sona's suggestion re European brands, especially Italian or Spanish ones, where they seem to like fitting to the waist. Even good old UCB has shirts that do this, while being nice and deep in the shoulder.

With good tailoring and the fabrications with a hint of stretch, there is give where you need it even if it's fitted. My own somewhat beer-bellied accessory is never going to be that admirable V-shape, but those slim cuts make even him look more... uh---Pilsner glass-shaped??

I think he wears a 44 or 46 suit but 34 pants so pretty slim. He bought a few shirts off the rack in a slim fit and had them tailored down but doesn't really like the fit as much as the custom tailored shirts. I thought BB slim or super-slim cut would probably work.

I'd appreciate suggestions.

express does some really nice slim fitting shirts that are reasonably priced.

OR

If his budget allows I would look at european brands- tend to be more slimmer cut.

My husband is a slim build and he has several no-iron shirts from Banana Republic. He has others from Lands End and Eddie Bauer, but the BR ones are probably the slimmest fitting style.

My son bought a few custom made shirts but I think he would be better off finding a quality non-iron shirt. I suggested Brooks Brothers but he thinks they are made for older, heavier men. The "kid" has broad shoulders and a fairly deep chest but is a 34" waist. He has read that Charles Tyrwhitt shirts are a slimmer fit and good quality.

I know many of you help your "accessories" shop for shirts. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good quality men's shirt that is slimmer fitting and non-iron?
