No picture, but the new cut looks much better. It's fairly short, with the top slightly longer. The fringe isn't as different in length compared to the rest, shorter than before and more fringy.

Thanks Jeanie. I don't think he would go for #1. And at that length his hair isn't as straight so it would look differently. I personally really like #2, but the need for product might be a dealbreaker.

Astrid,

I see a lot of the boys getting this longer, brushed forward bang as in #1. It's a cute style and would hide hairline issues. My DS got a style similar to #2, which our stylist, called a faux-hawk. I like it but it does require some styling product (though my DS doesn't always use it).

It's a bit finer than mine, but still has some body when it's grown out a bit. It's not completely straight either, he has some wave to it, but most of the time you don't see it because the hair isn't long enough.

Does his hair have thick body like yours just less curl? Or is it more fine and straight? I am trying to find the photo my husband always brings to the stylist, his hair type seems like yours and he has had the receding hairline since forever.

Thanks Traci! I'll try that. I actually don't think it's bothering him that much, it's more that my mum always told the stylist that the fringe needed to be longer and he didn't have an opinion about it either way. I actually think it draws more attention to it with the cut he has now.

Thanks Minnie. That picture is a good example for the way his hair would look, just that his is dark blonde.

If he isn't willing to use any product, I think the best cut for straight hair is everything short and just accept the receding hairline.

I think I'd encourage him to think about letting go of the fringe and push the front up a bit. In essence, see if you can convince him that he doesn't need to fight his hairline.

I'm at home right now and the rest of the family is getting a haircut on Monday (not me though). I feel like I have to make sure my poor brother gets a better haircut. He's seventeen, not interested in clothes and doesn't do anything with his hair. So it needs to be a cut that looks good without product.

He has had a receding hairline since he was a small child and relatively straight hair. The hairstylist always kept the fringe longer to hide the long forehead, but lately she's been cutting it awefully. She keeps everything really short and just cuts a long fringe straight across. The hair's grown out a bit now, so there's something to work with. Any ideas or pictures I could suggest to my brother? Changing the stylist is not an option.
