I think I'll be checking out S&C's book too. DH is almost at goal on our diet, and his body and wardrobe have changed significantly! He had been hiding in old-man clothes for years now, but he used to be pretty hip. I'd like to encourage him to get back into dressing sharply and I think we could both use some ideas for him to manage that. So many of the blogs I read about guy clothes are for much younger, urban guys. He's skinny again, but he is forty and an exec. Wide-striped t-shirts under slouchy jackets and biker boots aren't going to work here.

Thanks everybody. I guess I'll check out S&C's book. This may make me sound ignorant, but can anybody tell me the name of the book?

I found S & C's book helpful for the male body types (less so for the female). My husband is easily identified as barrel chested and some of my instincts for what looks good on him were right on the money.

Maybe I will check that out too. My hubby is broad shouldered, thick chested, with a tummy, long torso, shorter legs (he's 6" taller than me but our legs are the same length) and hates layering because he gets too hot. Talk about a style challenge!!

I'd be interested to hear more about male figure types/style tips. Maybe I should check out S&C's book at the library.

I was also going to rec Stacy and Clinton's book. These are the body types I remember:

Barrel chested: large chest
Hips: Yes, some men have hips
Small frame: Self-explanatory. I have a crush on the model for this body type.
Athletic: muscular, broad-shouldered, Greek godlike
I don't remember what the exact name was, but the one Clinton modeled for was something along the lines of tall and lanky
Tummy: Basically the male version of the apple

Don't ask me how I remember this so clearly. I really do not know.

I was looking at the T&S body type page the other day. Just for the fun of it, I entered my husband’s measurements, since they had a body type thing for men too. However, I found it even less helpful that the body type section for ladies. For one thing, they don’t list any body types at all. Also, all you do is enter a few measurements and then whether the guy is tall, short, skinny, or big. My husband isn’t really any of the above. He’s average height (5’10”) and not really skinny or fat. He just has a little extra around the middle. Any ideas on where to find body type suggestions for men?
