You could say hi, ma-neesh-ma (how are things, a bit more casual and common than a more formal greeting) and go on in English and it will be fine.<br />Regarding the situation here, sigh. I would just say I hope all your friends and family are well and let them give you the lead if they want to discuss it at all or not. ( they are immigrants ). </p> <p>She told my daughter that her parents are nervous to meet me since English is not their first language. </p> <p>I want to put them at ease and decided to learn a few short Hebrew phrases. </p> <p>It’s not starting off well.
