It seemed too short to me, too -- almost neither here nor there, if you know what I mean. I'm still glad I tried it on. I felt like I *could* work with it, but Rae hit the nail on the head -- it didn't really feel like me. I do have one maxi dress, but it's very "tropical island" feeling and I only wear it for specific occasions (most notably on vacation for dinners out) -- in those cases it makes me feel quite fab, but I don't think this would have felt that way for everyday. And this is just not the direction I like to go in when dressing up.</p> <p>When I looked back at the pictures a little after I took them, I realized part of what was bugging me is that this silhouette looks very much like a flowy black culotte type jumpsuit (yes, really) that I wore in the early-mid 90s. I guess it was maybe? fashionable at the time, but the memory of it makes me cringe a little now. Quite dramatic looking - but CAN be somewhat dressed down too. It definitely gives off a more 'dressy' and arty vibe, no matter what you pair it with, I think. Jersey material helps in making it comfy, but I wouldn't say the look is ever really casual.
