It felt like being on Project Runway to be able to draw something, pick out the fabric and have it come to life the very next day.</p> <p>Shoes are ~US$15 for sandals, $20 for shoes and more for boots (I didn't get any boots). The red ones need repairing as the stitching is coming undone though - doh!!!</p> <p>I found the clothes a lot more exciting than the shoes, but it was all great. It's like the clothes at the tailors!! </p> <p>You go in and either pick a design or design your own, then you pick your "leather" (still not convinced its real leather at all places), heel, buckles etc. Then they measure your foot onto a piece of paper. You go in the next day(s) for fittings and adjustments - very fun!! I like some pointy toes, but they have to be like the ones I posted...a little less sharp and elongated, and they have to have some details to soften the look. What I really don't like are very long, very sharp pointy toes with stiletto heels--especially in black. I have many unsavory words come to mind when I see those shoes, which I will keep to myself =X</p> <p>Usually when I go up in size, the shoes don't stay on my heel, but for some reason these do. My Brulees are my comfiest shoes for summer and somehow even though they would work with the outfit, I don't think they would work as well. This outfit will definitely get tons of wear in the fall and winter when I'm back in my beloved boots. I don't own a single pair of 8 hour closed shoes, so I'm getting by either in boots or Brulees. I have a few options in mind, bu they are very casual. I stumbled upon a few items of particular interest recently:</p> <p>-Pointy toe shoes. Normally I am not a fan of pointy toes. They hurt and they look too severe. But these are red patent with little bows, so they couldn't possibly look severe if they tried. And as for comfort, even though they are never going to be 8 hour shoes, they are as comfy as any of my other flats. The catch? They are a size 7.5. My normal shoe size is a 6. I haven't worn them because I'm afraid they look disproportionate on me...but they were $20 at TJ Maxx so I figured it's worth a try. If all else fails, I can just wear them with some bootcut or trouser jeans, which will diminish the extra length a bit. </p> <p>-A chain belt. Supposedly hip belts are good for the short-of-waist, but I have been reluctant to try them because I was afraid they would land under my pouchy tummy. But, having found this one already in my closet, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. </p> <p>I have worn both of the above items with a mini skirt and a long, almost-tunicky top--yet another combination I would never normally wear.
