Anne and The Cat, thanks. In the US, seasons seem fairly tightly color-coded, brown and orange for fall, red and green for Advent/Christmas, etc. It feels good to break away from that.

You look gorgeous in cranberry, and that's a great colour for the fall and winter seasons. Absolutely no need to wear orange, which is not a part of your (Summer) palette.

Wearing the darker colours of your palette (cranberry, plum, navy, etc.) even in light fabrics may help you to "feel" like fall/winter though the temperatures are high.

La Ped, thanks for chiming in, as one who was present at the creation of this challenge.

Joy, I wish that was a necessary hole to fill. One reason I don’t like living here is climate; I want to move back to a 4-season place. I still have long johns, sweaters, wool skirts, tall boots..... They would be easy to pull out. But that’s not going to happen this year. Here is our extended forecast. I whined about it in Angie’s packing post. https://m.accuweather.com/en/u.....r=1/1/2018

I might get a chance to wear this suede jacket a couple times this year. But I’ve given myself permission to add another topper anyway, an in-between one that I can wear on 60 degree mornings in Florida winter, and in shoulder season elsewhere. I like the one with the fake fur collar better, as long as I’m pretending it’s winter. But we’ll see what they’re like when they arrive.

The difficult thing for me is figuring out how to “feel” like fall/winter in my clothes when the weather doesn’t feel like it at all. This is the thread where I first planned the challenge https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....heellllllp By the end of that conversation, I decided to dump most of what I started with and just go with my favorites, adding as necessary until I hit 30.

I’ve started a collection for the challenge, but don’t know how to add in the things I already own. Photographing and making finds seems a little obnoxious, as they are no longer available (I did just make finds for two of the items, based on EBay/Poshmark listings. It turns out the dress is from LL Bean, Sal)

You have a great start to your challenge. Give yourself permission to get another topper if needed. We are headed from a high of 70F to snow this week. Now that I am past menopause, I am running cold and have been wearing my wools and have been comfortable. What to do when it's really cold?

Love the star-print top! (And you look very happy in that outfit.) Navy and cranberry seem like slam-dunk colours on you, and a good base for fall/winter. Nice variety of silhouettes here!

BC, Florida is such a huge state! We are in Tampa. I recently forced my son (not quite at knife point, but very near) to buy two pairs of long pants. He didn't have a single pair that fit, nor did he see why he needed any. He has hoodie sweatshirts that he wears when the early morning temps are in the 60s or low 70s.

Maybe peachy pink or watermelon instead of orange? I'm a soft summer, and have to tweak my colors. I can get away with peachy pink because my skin is more neutral. If you're a cool summer, you'll need to stick with colors that have no warmth in them. Cranberry sounds like a great color. Also burgundy with pink undertones.

If it's North Florida, you will most definitely need layers. South Florida not nearly so much. I just took a trip to Jacksonville over the weekend to attend a family wedding. The temps suddenly dropped from warm to cold, and it was ugly while we were there. The temps went back up to warm on the day we left. We got there on Friday night and left on Sunday morning, so that lets you know how fast things change. I grew up in Gainesville, and the weather was always unpredictable like that. My relatives in South Florida don't even own sweaters, I don't think.

Nice colours - I like all the looks but my favourite is the striped dress. I would take that off your hands in a flash.

Cranberry is really a good colour - I am not super into it but I suspect you are a Summer in colour theory?

The dress would also work with your booties and the jeans with your loafers so there are two more mix and match options.

BC, I wish I could! LBD also mentioned layering for Florida, in the post planning this challenge. The cardigan is the only layer I’ve tried, and that was just for taking my son to school in the morning. It came off very soon, as temps rose. What types of things were you able to layer in these temps?

Blue is my best color, but I don’t think it’s enough to make that orange look good on me

Aye, Mateys, it’s been a week that I’ve been on this challenge. The idea is to limit myself to 30ish items for about 30 days. Orange and brown are really not my colors, so I’m trying to find other color combos that look autumnal. High temps have been 70s and 80s, lows in the 60s. My main discovery so far is that I don’t wear enough clothes. I’ve taken a picture every time I’ve gone out of the house (besides the school run) or, in some cases, when I came back home in something i haven’t worn/photographed yet, and I barely passed half a dozen items, arrrg. Enough pirate talk, on to the pix.

#1 I’m new at this, forgot to take the mirror shot, but did take a “working in the coffee shop” joke pic for something else. Cranberry lightweight sweater, long floral shorts, Call it Spring shoes, “bronze” chain.
2 & 3. Cranberry sweater and necklace repeat, bootcut jeans, blush booties to stroll half a mile to a nice restaurant & back.
4. Lands End dress, CiS shoes shopping for pants with my son and dinner in mall restaurant.
5 & 6 olive Kut shorts, “starry” Stateside tank top, cardigan from the Loft, CiS shoes, colorful beads. (See those knock knees? That’s why I don’t do pencil skirts much). Cooler temps mean the ponytail is lower and I can add a cuff to it.

I felt good in every one of these outfits. The last one is probably my favorite, with or without the cardi. I think that’s because the color combo (which I realize is not earth-shakingly new) is one I haven’t worn before.

Shoes: there was a pair of (embroidered?) loafers in NAS this year that I thought were cute, but they were expensive, and I didn’t know if I’d actually wear them. So I got some cheaper loafers that I think are similar. I wear them all. the. time. I have several pix of me in them from before starting this challenge. When I wear them out, I think I’ll look for a higher-quality/longer-lasting pair. There is no reason I couldn’t have worn them with the jeans except that I was looking forward to wearing the booties. I’m less excited about the booties than I expected to be, will see if that changes. Right now I’m leaning towards a lower heel (these are comfortable but I have several pairs of boots at this height) and either a blush with more pink in it or dark red shoes as a replacement pair (these are also a low price/quality test run, so will wear out soon).

Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions/discussion welcome.
