It's so much fun reading about all your purchases and things you are considering. Glad to hear you managed to 'get in' Shana. I can't wait to see pictures and am already envious of the sea green cashmere wrap (I LOVE that colour!-)

Thanks for the great rundown on your day. It sounds like you found some interesting things.
I like the simplicity of the leather jacket you bought but I also love an aubergine color and you might find something like that online tonight. I think the one I tried on in my post about my NAS trip with Angie has a hint of that color to it.
I love the cashmere wrap you got!!!!!
Thankyou for taking the time to share your experience with us. It is so fun to see what other eyes see at the sale.
I am so happy you were selective about your boot options.

Shana, that wrap color sounds awesome, I'd be very interested in it. Could you post pictures? I also have my eye on those Geox kids' shoes.
The other day at the flagship they let us into the presale area without any problem. And we're not cardholders. Unfortunately, it was a menswear shopping mission, so I didn't see any other areas.
Thanks for the report, esp. on the shoes! Too bad that none of the boots worked, but I hope you'll see a better selection in Europe.

I had appointment near the mall yesterday evening so I thought I would pop in and see if I can catch a glimpse of any of the NAS stuff. I wasn’t expecting to get in since I overheard a conversation between a couple of sales associates last time I was there in which they were discussing how only card holders would be allowed into the curtained off areas. So I hesitantly approached a “nice” looking SA and asked if I could take a peek into the “secret” room and she said no problem, go right in!

Our Nordstroms is quite small and has a skimpy selection during the best of times so needless to say, there was not a huge selection for NAS either, especially for petites. I ended up hitting all the secret rooms in the store and was able to purchase & take home my NAS goodies right away. I was excited to see many of the items that other forum members have modeled. The boot selection was dismal for me – the salesperson tried to convince me that the Leombruni boots (p.34) looked good even though they were too wide in the calf and too tall for me. I noticed many boots had western styling – especially in the shape of the toes which did not really appeal to me. The Sam Edelman boots (p.37) was as close as I found to something that would work - the height was perfect for me and they were not too loose but again they were a little too western for me and I didn’t like the weird insignia on the decorative buttons. The Me Too flats (p.38) were fabulous and much more comfy than last year’s Nyles (too squishy in the toes) but I really didn’t need another pair of flats and with my foot issues, I’ll probably be in clogs all fall:( The Me Too wedges (p.40) were similar to the Nyles in terms of fit and feel for me but were very pretty and a nice change from flats. For anyone looking for jewelry, the mixed metal cuff pictured on p.12 is beautiful – not the right color gold for me so I passed but it is really lovely. Loads of sunglasses for anyone who is looking. The coat selection in petites was not great – everything was a little too swingy for my taste. There was a pretty Jessica Simpson wool coat but it only came in orange and I think if I get a short wool coat this year, I would like one in aubergine or maroon.

My list was pretty small since I have so many fall/winter clothes already and there’s nothing I absolutely have to have except the boots. A good pinstripe suit, a shorter wool and/or leather jacket and a sweater dress are really my only other wishlist items for the fall. I didn’t score all of them but I got a few goodies – need to take some pics:

1. Caslon distressed brown leather jacket (p.27) - I haven’t had a leather jacket in many years and thought it would be nice to have one for the fall. The leather jacket selection in my store in petites was pretty much this, another one with ruffles and a biker jacket. It’s especially challenging for me since in addition to being petite, I have broad shoulders so it’s hard to find something that doesn’t make me look like a linebacker. I notice many of them have these horizontal lines that go across the shoulder line which I don’t think is that flattering on me (neither is arm/shoulder details). The Caslon one looks so so - I don’t really love it so it might be a return. I’m going to wait and see what is online. I’d really like to find a brownish/burgundy/aubergine leather jacket (something with a hint of dark red instead of a regular, warm brown) so if anyone sees something that might fit the bill, please let me know!

2. Sea Green cashmere wrap (p.13) - I have plenty of scarves/wraps but the color of this one was really gorgeous – sort of a sea/bottle green. I kept coming back to it in the accessories section so I knew I had to have it. It's very soft and warm!

3. Stirrup leggings – O.K. this might not make sense since I have not even been able to incorporate a regular leggings look into my wardrobe yet. But I remain hopeful that I will find some kind of tunic/top that will work and beyond that, with my foot issues, I thought it would be nice to have tights that don’t squish all my toes together. I figure I could wear these with some looser/comfier socks in my boots.

4. Underwear

5. Kids stuff – geox sneakers for my older son, paul frank undies (so cute!) etc.

I can’t wait to see what’s online tomorrow!
