Angie,YLF is my addiction, but I also like to look at http://www.graziadaily.co.uk and http://www.handbag.com a couple of times a week.

95% of my links are from these sources.

I hardly ever buy glossy magazines anymore but strangely enough I miss the ads more than the editorial.

I have bought jeans from the girls section in the UK retailer New Look a few years ago when I was less hourglass-shaped. They were for age 13, fitted my waist and hips but were too long for me. Obviously 13 year olds are much taller than me! I can't buy from kids sections anyway longer because I have developed curves since then.

I should add to this that I have a friend who is roughly my height, or a hair shorter. She is much curvier on the bottom though: size 6 on the bottom, 0 or 2 on top. Anyway, she really liked a pair of pants she got from the kid's section at Old Navy because it had an adjustable waistband, so she did not have to have the waist taken in. She also regularly shops for jackets at Gap Kids.

This is interesting! I have MANY petite clients. Some of them below 5ft. Several at 5ft 1. I have never shopped in a petites department with them. Perhaps I should!

Thank you for your replies,

The lady in the video is Angela Butolph, who has appeared as a fashion expert in the UK on a number of programmes. As far as I'm aware she is not petite but is very slim. I have to admit that allot of the items she tried looked lovely and distinctly un child like.

With regards to the cost, I believe there has to be some reward for the extra work it takes petite women to find clothes which properly fit their perfect frames.

"Kids" is a broad term. I have been about the same height since I was 11 years old...technically still a kid. I wore a 14 then and pretty much stayed the same size until I turned 21. I am curvier now and a bit bigger, but I have no doubt that I could probably fit into a 16 (whether or not it would be flattering is another discussion).

I will absolutely wear kids shoes. They are a fraction of the price of adult shoes and, although I have yet to try any, I'm betting they would be a lot more comfortable.

I think it's brilliant. More and more companies are dressing little kids like adults (in modern, clean cut, non-cutesy designs) - I wish it worked for me!

If you are not curvy and fairly short, this works well with the right pieces. I've done it and have been looking at both boys and girls graphic tees. I'd do it more if I didn't fear finding myself in the same shirt or coat as one of my students.
At Curves last week someone with really cute athletic shoes told us she got them in the children's department for about a third of what they cost in womens and she has a size 8 foot.

I have definitely purchased children's clothing for myself in the past. It's much easier when you are in a department store and just go to the children's section--you can then carry it into the women's section to try on with some women's clothing and no one looks twice. Going into an actual childrens-only store, like Gap Kids or Children's Place, can be more embarrassing, because I have had adult give me nasty looks, since I don't have a child with me and it's obvious I'm shopping for myself. I have only done this a few times--once when I was shopping for a skirt for a Halloween costume and couldn't find anything in any adult store in the mall, then walked by Children's Place and saw exactly what I wanted in the window, and another time when I was shopping for flowy beach cover-up skirts. At Children's Place, the skirts were just $10, and I didn't want to spend more than that on something that was going to be covered in sand and surf.

I don't see anything wrong with it. The largest children's sizes today are actually quite large, and I'm a small person.

As for the Stella collection, I had no idea she did something for Gap Kids. I was sad to see there was just one pair of non-sneaker shoes in the collection. I don't buy leather and actually own a lot of Stella shoes. But the Gap stuff isn't necessarily a deal anyway--the other day I bought a $600 pair of Stella shoes for $60 on Yoox, which is cheaper than some of that Gap stuff!

I've had petite women tell me they occasionally shop the kids section- particularly for jackets/coats. I would try things on (with my 10 year old in tow). They wouldn't fit me now, but maybe at goal weight they would My arms are really short, and maybe a kids coat would fit better. I tried a petite coat, and the arms are still on the long side. The woman in this video just wanted something Stella McCartney at a bargain, it seems like- and that's ok, too. I'm all for getting your bargains on.

In this video, you can see that the styles she's chosen are age appropriate, so if the fit is ok.. why not? LOVE the trench she tries on.

I have definitely done this. It doesn't always work, and its important to recognize when it doesn't, but its worth the try. Kid's clothes are less expensive, often come in a wider range of colours, and the longer shirt styles don't come to my knees.

Hi Julie - I didn't watch all of it as my computer's sound doesn't work.
but as to the general question of whether I would consider kid's clothes the answer is yes. I haven't done it for a long time with clothes, but there was a stage when I was wearing adult and children's clothing at the same time.

In the last five years however, I have bought 2 pairs of shoes that were kids. It was cheaper than buying fairly equivalent adult pairs.

Please do not get me wrong, I think the petite women on this forum are KILLER and I truly sympathise with your shopping dilemmas, however something about this video is both sublime and ridiculous.

http://www.graziadaily.co.uk/f.....-range.htm

If you are petite, is this something you would consider doing? Is it just a fact of life that kids sections sometimes work?

Please pardon my ignorance, but curiosity would definitely kill this cat!
