The colors are gorgeous on you - or surrounding you more accurately. The hair inspo is amazing too. I will be requesting a consult when my short side gets just a tiny bit longer .

I love your palette - it suits you very well - and new purchases!

If you want to get a tighter curl and less dryness, have you tried Curly Girl Method?

There's an overwhelming amount of info out there, but it's basically conditioner wash, choosing products with no sulfates or silicones, and tons of gel scrunched in while your hair is still very wet. Let dry naturally then "scrunch out the crunch". Given the products available in Canada and my general cheapness, I have come up with a basic drugstore product regime using TresEmme Nourish and Replenish Coconut conditioner to wash and condition (I stock up at Shoppers when it regularly goes on sale for $5.99 instead of $11.99!), and Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel for styling (there's also LA Looks Sport Gel at Walmart). I play with some Shea Moisture products too, specifically you probably want a leave-in conditioning product, but used very sparingly it can last forever. Left alone my hair is not as curly as yours, but using this method I easily get more curl than your #11.

I absolutely can see you rocking a cut like Farrah. It’s a very layered look which is a big commitment for wavy/curly hair. If you don’t like it, the layers take a long time to grow out. I know this from my pixie which had a ton of layers, although they were short.

The new color additions add a nice dash of softness without taking away from your unique style aesthetic.

I do almost all of my shopping online. I love to shop in person, but there are only a few nice small shops here and they are spread out between all the small towns and have limited inventory. The local mall (when it’s open) doesn’t carry much of interest to me. Some things I have learned when shopping online....1. Call the store and ask them if they can measure a garment or get the exact measurements for you. The size charts are typically too general, even with Nordstrom. I have started to ask for key measurements that I know will make or break fit such as inseam, rise, sleeve length, width of shoulders, etc. I believe that taking the time to do this will save me time and money on returns. The request can sometimes confuse or annoy phone operators/SA (except those at Nordstroms) who are probably only trained to take online orders, but I have been persistent and most have figured out how to get the information. 2. Colors often look very different online than in person. If you are looking to coordinate colors, it’s best to purchase items within the same season and year; Retailers seem to make use of a similar color palette. If you need to find something to coordinate with a past years purchase its more challenging but not impossible when working online.

I'm afraid I can't help with the Kibbe type since I'm just as confused about my own lol, but the softer colours are definitely working for you

As for hair, I actually had mine cut into that 'curly shag' shape just last summer (it's grown out a lot since then though, lol). My hair is fine & more wavy than curly, but there's a lot of it (not thick but 'dense', I suppose). So what worked for coaxing out the curl pattern (required for that Look) was going sulphate, silicone & paraben free with my shampoo, conditioner & hold mousse (to avoid weighing down the curls). I also 'scrunch' my hair in the shower, 'plop' it into a cotton tshirt & shake out the 'crunch' later to preserve the curl direction & position. Hope that helps

@lisap - how do you follow the red lion folks? I didn’t find much on their website.

@jenn - I’ve been feeling a shift since the fall, before all this craziness, but I ‘sat on’ my ideas for a while to make sure they would ‘stick’. I was poised for bricks and mortar shopping in early March when Covid happened in my part of the world. In the interim, I’ve refined my ideas.

@slimcat - I know just the place to go for a scarf! There is an antique shop in my community, with a dresser drawer full of silk scarves all folded neatly and sorted by colour. I will pay a visit as soon as shops open up here.

@joy - softer? Maybe! I’m not a stickler for ‘crisp’, though I do appreciate a nicely pressed garment. On the other hand, I gravitate towards items with the patina of age. Though not a fan of distressing, I’m okay with fading and signs of wear.

@nemosmom - I find it hard to objectively assess myself, but from what work/tests I’ve done - I have a dose of ‘Classic’ - mostly due to symmetry, but when it all comes out in the wash, the majority of my answers put me in ‘Natural’. I have Yang bone structure, balanced ‘flesh’ and Yin facial features. I might be a Dramatic Gamine, if it wasn’t for my height (5ft 7in)!

@Angie - Red will always have a place in my closet, that’s for sure!

Good job overcoming the perils of online shopping, Carla! I think you'll enjoy it after a while too.

GREAT palette. Versatile, interesting, and reflective of YOU. A shift that is organic and authentic.

Since red is magical and goes with everything - (in my style world, anyway) - feel free to add it to a look at any time. Same goes with stripes and dots :)

The lilac is a really fun wildcard! I like it with red, olive and white.

More love for Farrah! That's your new hairstyle, and maybe some gold aviators....

It's a pretty color addition that will allow to make interesting combinations. I love that you've got the trench in new lilac color and printed tops for playing with your other pieces.
I don't know if you need to change the silhouette - maybe just shift it slightly to more classic/natural style ( trench is perfect for that ). If you consider adding more lilac/violet pieces - then I'd add scarf ( printed, with your new color ), hair accessories and tank-top or tee-shirt ( easier to find ).
Your hair look great with your new color palette and slightly longer length - love all the photos!

This is definitely a shift in color palette, but you're making it work with your older, brighter colors. Do you think this shift is attributable to the state of the world right now? I know my energy hasn't been more subdued than bold and bright recently.

I'm dreading finding a new stylist with appointments being limited after re-opening. I really like these curly-bangs looks for you, though! Have you experimented with leave-in conditioner at all? I got some on a whim because my hair has felt frizzier and less healthy recently, and the difference is night and day.

Would you look at Farrah Fawcett! What a great photo ! Anyways,I like the proposed direction of your shift so far. Those colours are very similar to what I have in my closet and get the most wear from ; they also seem right in line with your Kibbe ideas . (disclaimer: I know nothing about Kibbe) Here I go again with recommending my new favourite group of women : red leopard.uk . You remind me very much of one of their owners who calls her self an Autumn Huntswoman (of course she has slightly different colouring, but the concept could be translated.)

I like the idea of one of these loose cuts for you, complete with some bangs.

I’ve been shopping the heck out of my closet, and a few items have made it over the ‘30 wears’ benchmark. All my clothes are in good shape, and none need to be retired ATM. I have no absolute ‘needs’, but I’ve been wanting to shift my style, and this isn’t possible without the addition of new items.

I’m slowly overcoming my dislike of online shopping and made 3 (online) purchases in May. They are in a quieter palette, and 2 items are patterned. I’m still struggling with how to change the silhouette, but have settled on a colour trio (see pic#1) and plan to keep future purchases to this palette. #2 shows the colours of my closet blending old and new (black, lilac, red, gold/beige, white, olive, denim). #3 new items.

With the exception of a few really hot days, May has been cool. The outfit (#4) is typical of what I wore during the month. The bottoms in #5 have all passed the 30+ wears benchmark in 2020 and are already a year or two old. The tops in #6 have seen 10+ wears since the start of the year.

With no idea when salons will open up and my regular stylist on mat leave, I’ll have to find another. I’ll probably change up my hair style and start with a conservative trim that allows for pulling it into a ponytail. My current texture is most like #7 and #9. #11 is the dream!

There seem to be elements of Kibbe Natural or Soft Natural style?

Comments/suggestions very welcomed as this is all work in progress!
