I like it -- has a boho vibe. I would wear it and I usually don't do much boho.
The skirt is more casual, but can be dressy casual with the right pieces with it. I think you could do a less formal blazer-style jacket with it to dress it up a bit and a simple top or blouse. Since it is quite colorful, I would pick colors in the skirt for coordinating pieces.

Thanks, Rosee and Joy. I bought a skirt this weekend that is a bit below the knee (since I had trouble finding anything else). It's a tan linen sort of thing, with a little white stitching near the hem; found it at Coldwater Creek. I wish I'd had the foresight to sign up here and download the iPhone app before my shopping trip yesterday!

I found this on Free People (I like their shoes); what do you guys think? Too young?

I'm thinking it may be best to wait a little longer to see more choices. I'd go for a length that's just below the knee/above the calf to give the leg shape and length. Shape will depend on your body type. If you can wear dark denim to work, that would seem to be the most versatile. You could wear boho style tops or jewelry to express your inner hippie.

Happy first post!!! Welcome! (no rules, just be courteous and fun).

Scour the websites to see if something catches your eye... it is almost endless.

About buying online:
- I prefer websites with good product details, good pics (including the option of viewing larger and different views), care instructions, etc.
- take good measurements and compare with those listed (or contact their customer service for details about that).
- check out their shipping charges and return policies. Good retailers often have lower shipping costs and easy return policies.

I'm sure some ideas will start pouring in soon....

I went to the Tulalip outlet mall this weekend (Seattle people will be familiar with the place, I'm sure) because I wanted to buy my first Maxi skirt (er, since the 1970s; I am THAT old). But there were none to be had! What do people think about buying one online; what brand, what style? I know it's kind of an open-ended question (and my first post, so forgive if I break any rules, please).

I'm in my mid-40s and due to some recent weight loss and a new job, am upping my style sense. The YouLookFab site has been my favorite resource. So...what Maxi is good for a middle-aged woman with average body type, who's a hippie at heart — but still wearable to work? Thanks ladies!
