Thank you for the support and the faves, everyone! Just goes to show “Never say never” - I think I will be hacking the print to midi length, maybe with a bit of assymetry! It is a bit short for maxi in the petite length, and a bit too big in the waist to stay up without tugging all day. And the black top has been in my “should shorten “ pile forever, but I just didn’t want to put in the effort as it is a bit of an orphan. But orphan no more. So out comes the sewing machine.

And what a difference 2” makes on the black maxi – now I know I need about 38” or more of length.

Suz– good points on the sun coverage. I mostly don't sandals in the sunshine. I may try a sunscreen powder that was suggested a while ago on the forum. I just hate sticky lotion anywhere but my face.

Admire your fabulous earrings, super fun and so creative!

My next favourite is #4, it’s very elegant.

And so clever with the earrings!

ETA for sun coverage, sun screen. And a matching parasol? :)

I find that sun doesn't really hit the lower leg much when you are upright. Unless you are out for hours. If you sit and stretch your legs in front of you, yes. But if you are walking your legs are often shadowed by the rest of your body. Feet are a different story -- sunscreen (and even then I get tan lines.)

#1 is sensational!! Really gorgeous. Gosh, I love that skirt and it's such a lovely fresh pattern.

You did a great job adjusting the proportions on the longer ones, too. Cute earrings!

Thanks for following through, Karen13.

OH MY WORD. Can you see how much BETTER the skirt looks in #1. Midi proportions look sooooo much more flattering to my eye. Are you sure I can't convince of a little hack - nice black top and shoe bookending. Top could be shorter, but not a train smash.

You did a great job with the tied shirts - shortening that length in a sneaky way. I like #4 and #7 best - and LOVE the addition of the white earrings. Clever. Nicely done.

I really like 4,6,7. The proportions really work here. #1 is cute but I imagine having to constantly adjust as the day wore on.

Karen13 - I have enjoyed your masterclass in maxi and midi skirts. I love the way you have been able to alter skirt #1 and the top to give you two looks, both great and flattering. The new black skirt is a winner too, I especially love #7 with the shirt tied over it.

Those ear-rings are the bomb!

I pondered and tried to apply all the great suggestions and feedback YLF gave me regarding maxis in my previous post. Then I shopped my closet and made one bargain purchase (the black skirt) to apply my learnings.

#1 – For Liz, Jaileen, Marilyn, Angie, Suz, and all the midi/asymmetry lovers – I pulled up the front of the skirt and tucked it in to the the waistband. Held everything in place with a snug wrap top and switched to black shoes. I have been avoiding black as I’m not sure it does much for me, so lighten up I made a pair of white earrings to pull in the white from the skirt. I do love the print on this skirt. Not sure about what I’d do for sun coverage on legs and arms, but I liked this looked for a warm evening or shady outside.

#2 – same top tucked, full length skirt – Better than the first post. I think the snugger, black top is better than the loose white tank; it improves the vertical dimension of my torso.

#3 – Full sun covered version of 2 – the linen top is better tied than loose.

#4 – Black skirt is my bargain purchase – after looking at the first post, I realized the petite sized skirts are a little short, just like my problem with petite pants. So I bought a Misses XS straight side slit. With the extra 2 inches of length I feel taller in than the more A-line and shorter floral. I might decide to size up in the black skirt, or buy a heavier fabrication – for $11, I can’t expect much in terms of quality, but wanted to see how it worked. It needs some better accessories, but I like it.

#5 – One of my favorite tops (15+ years old and I altered it after a big weight loss), untucked because I think the curved hemline helps avoid the vertical line across hips. Comfy and JFE. Question – does the short necklace look OK or too neck-shortening?

#6 – Knotted and tuck inside blouse. Probably more flattering than 5.

#7 – for sun coverage

#8 – I could not find any inexpensive white statement earrings in my quick trip to the mall while my car was in the shop, so I decided to make a pair. These are Shrinky Dinks, made with paper punches (I have a well stocked craft room)! I realized I can make them any color, so I have no excuse not to wear fun earrings.

Thanks to everyone who commented in my prior post; your suggestions made me feel more fab in all of these. Honest feedback desired.
