Adela people here used to do that exposed nose thing, but less so now that we are in our second lockdown. Sigh. Anyway, I have been wearing masks outdoors with sunglasses for months and it was just a matter of finding the right mask, putting it closer to my eyes, and readjusting as needed for me.

Oh, I see I still have lots to learn (and try) and that I was right when I had faith in you, ladies! And it also helps to know that I'm not alone with this problem. I'm taking masks seriously but many other people here don't and just told me to pull the mask down so the nose is out. What's the point then, hello? Thank you, you are the best.

Great tips here already, chiming in...

A wire piece at the nose bridge is KEY to create as much of a "seal" as possible, with the glasses seated outside or on top of the mask if possible.

A filter or tissue inside your mask will also help absorb the moisture that creates the fog.

If you have different pairs of glasses, try them. They sit differently on your face and you may find some pairs fog less than others.

Wash your glasses with soapy water and let them air dry. For some reason this helps prevent fog!

I agree, a fitted nose area and/or nose wire is key. Weather/humidity and the fabric of your mask influence it too. To a certain extent the fogging will dissipate once you’re outside for a few minutes, just like you don’t have to run the defogger in your car the whole time you’re in it, just at the beginning. I’m sure certain glasses shapes and face shapes make a difference too.

Carla, what is the pattern you used for the origami masks? They look a lot like the ones I got from Etsy and really like.

Hang in there. We wear masks as soon as we leave our homes - had lots of practice! - and I know all too well how tricky it is with foggy eyewear. Sooooo annoying :(

Read this post and the comments. Gaitor type masks are not very effective, so try not to use those. I always wear a mask with a removable filter:

One way to add a wire to your mask is to sew a 4-5” strip of bias tape, leaving the ends open, centered on the top inside edge of your mask. Then slip a piece of pipe cleaner with the ends bent inwards into the casing formed by the bias tape. The pipe cleaner can be removed for washing.

The bias tape can be made with fabric scraps or purchased in a package. If you don’t sew, it’s possible to cut two small slits near the top in the back layer of the mask, then insert the pipe cleaner. An option then is to hand stitch a line below the pipe cleaner placement so it doesn’t slip down into the lining.

I have the same issue with fogging of eyeglasses while wearing a mask. As Carla mentioned the nose wire is key to preventing or minimizing fogging. I just ordered some anti-fogging spray/eyeglasses cleaner and hope that will help with this issue too.

A wire to close over the nose piece is key regardless of the design. I’ve been making masks since March and have gone through several designs. The most popular ones I make are a basic pleated mask (generally flexible fit) and a 3-d origami mask. I’ve worn them with and without the wire. The origami mask is close without the wire, but there is still some glasses fogging. With a wire, there isn’t any, or very little fogging that soon resolves.

#2 3-d origami mask without wire

In my country, the number of Covid 19 new cases is growing very fast, so we need to wear masks outside too. Here comes my problem. I wear prescription glasses, and as the weather is getting cold, they get foggy very fast. I tried all kind of masks but it doesn't make much difference. I tried higher masks too, and put glasses over the mask, but it's still happening. Do you have any tricks or suggestions for me? Thanks in advance.
