Great, Sarah! Thanks for asking. I still have some head congestion and I'm wondering if my lingering cold/cough is perhaps a cat allergy since I can't seem to kick it. I guess I'll keep popping that Zyrtec and keep up with the vacuuming : )

I think I'm going against the grain here, but for a casual outfit I don't mind the socks at all. I prefer the lighter socks with the jeans (maybe because it's hints at skin tone?) but with the black pants I'm wanting to see darker socks. Or perhaps a pair of patterned black knee high hose might be better.
I think #4 is great as is.

@Kelly - I'm so sorry you woke up not feeling well on Thanksgiving - how was the rest of your day?!

I definitely like the way you styled it in #4. In #1 & 2, I like the darker option better.

I'm super impressed that you prepared all the yummy food AND have time for a long run! Kudos to you!

I really like the shoes and I think they way you are wearing them in 4 is so very FAB.
I completely understand this dilemma:) I think generally nude would be good with the shoes, however as you have shown in 4, colored tights could work also. You may just have to have a play around with colors and textures.

Late to the party but I like it with the lighter sock in #1. I'm not loving the darker socks in 3 for some reason. Love the dress every way you style it--MJ or boots!

ETA: Woke up not feeling great. Saw your post and decided to copy your outfit for TG. I'm not feeling the tunic and boots that I had planned! Thanks!

Great thoughts, Suz. Yes, it is challenging isn't it? I, too, feel like I just wear boots these days! I have NO idea what I'm going to wear for my holiday outfits - that's the subject of another post...of course we're getting to the point when I'll be switching out shoes and my "good" boots for winter boots...

Mmmm. Your meal sounds amazing, Sarah! Yum!!

Your shoes are yummy, too. I really identify with your problem, because our climates are so similar. I realized recently that I spend most of the winter in boots or in my slippers (which is what I wear at home). On the one hand, this is good news; it justifies the money I want to spend on boots! On the other hand it is bad news, because none of my shoes get worn in that season!

I have similarly been playing around with Mary Janes and socks/tights at home. Mine are not cognac but yellow.

I think for your shoes, the advice to try sheer black is good. And I think a pair of textured hose in a sort of browny-olive (or some variant) might look really good, too. Maybe get out the pants and other skirts/dresses you might want to wear with them and try to figure out what colour combos would be ideal? I think these would look really good with that mulitcoloured patterned (tan/grey/black?) top you sometimes wear with black trousers. They would also look great with other blues in your closet. So maybe sheer navy or patterned navy tights would be another option?

OK, thanks! I hadn't thought of black. I will give that a try.

Angie and Ana - I'm glad you like #4 ; )

Jonesy - I know what you mean about the cup of tea thing - I'm not sure pairing with socks is mine either, but I want to wear the shoes! I can't believe you have to skip tgiving to work - ugh : (

Sveta - I will try those other options.

My pumpkin pie just came out of the oven! (Actually it's a buttercup squash pie - with a crust made with pasture butter - I'm sort of a pie fanatic) And the mushroom-leek-gruyere filo (vegetarian alternative to turkey) is assembled and ready bake over at my parents). And the cranberry chutney is done and dinner rolls are baked. Hubby is playing soccer and I'm going for a long run, and my niece is here to babysit! I love the holiday ; )

I think I would wear them with bare feet or textured nude or black sheer hosiery. I am not a fan of pairing them with socks or opaque tights.
So, what are you cooking right now?

Hmmmm...to my eye they look a tad peculiar with the socks or tights, but maybe it's just not my cup of tea? Something about that particular color (e.g., if you had those shoes in black, I would think you could pair black trouser socks with them no prob). I think I would only wear these with bare feet/legs, but maybe others will have a different take.

PS Happy thanksgiving, Sarah! How is the cooking coming along?

I bought these shoes that I like a lot, but now it's too cold for sockless feet in MN. I tried to find same-colored trouser socks, but so far I can't locate any. So here are some experiments with other-colored trouser socks (and some tights). Opinions please!

#1/2 - lighter taupe trouser socks on the left, brown on the right
#3 - nude (opaque, I admit) trouser socks
#4 - taupey brown tights

Do I have to wait until I find matching trouser socks or until spring to wear these shoes? Or do some of these "work"?

Thanks, I'm rather clueless here.
