You are banned from saying that ever again!</p> <p>Ok, no one shoot me, but I didn't like Nordies as they didn't have an adequate range of sizes and styles available and they rely too much on a) available stock and b) measuring tape. The first time I ever had any indication that a 32 was too big for me was when I went to Nordies and asked to try on some Chantelle bras. They insisted the 32's fit but I didn't feel good in them. Now that I have been correctly fitted, I'm glad I went with my instincts. They are definitely a huge step up from other department stores and once you know your size, it's a good place to shop, but their fitters just don't have the right training. I felt as you do, but it's soooo worth it. I went to Nordstroms and no one saw me without a bra on. It's much as Maya describes but my fitter brought in bras for me to try, left, and came back to see how they looked on. I cannot praise it enough. It works, makes an unbelievable difference to your style and comfort, and is a necessity rather than a luxury. You've got to do it, embarrassment or not. And expensive, well-fitting bras are worth every penny and then some. No robe. But as I said, they have seen all kinds of figures and boobies, including women who have had implants, mastectomies, and reductions with swollen red scars, problems with sagging and drooping, flabby waistlines (like, uh, mine for example), body hair...am I painting a picture here or what? Keep an open mind, and if in doubt, just let your fitter know you're a little nervous. I'm sure she will understand and may even make accommodations.</p> <p>There was quite a diverse group of women there the day I went. I wouldn't say any of them had an "ideal" size or shape, including me and my mom. </p> <p>I am the shyest creature imaginable and it was a bit surprising but not terrible at all. The women there are very sweet and supportive...like the lingerie version of YLF. </p> <p>The process:</p> <p>1--they will tell you about how they determine your bra size, why they don't use measuring tape, and explain how to care for your bras (you will still have your shirt on at this point, don't worry :P)</p> <p>2--they will take a look at how your current bra fits and base your new size and bra style on that. They'll basically pull on the band to see if it is too loose and see how the cups fit. They will show you how to put it on properly too, which is important.</p> <p>4--you sort through the pile and pick the ones you want. Done.</p> <p>This is a very standard Euro way of doing things. I have had things done the American way with American bras and ended up being given the wrong size and some of the most awful, unflattering granny-type bras! I wear the tiniest and rarest back size available combined with one of the largest cup sizes available. My fitter didn't bat an eyelash though, and I'm sure yours won't either.
