No reinforcement. The models couldn't walk... the heels gave way. It's hilarious. Manolo is hilarious. Because everyone thought their staggering was theatrical playing. One of my closest friends was adamant that Manolo's and Gucci's were different, really comfortable despite the heel height. I was a complete fool and gave it a try, only to find that I never wore those 4 inch Gucci heels - ever! I'm a reluctant movie-goer and only went because it was about fashion. It's not my favourite thing to do. I was pleasantly surprised! It was very informative. I hadn't realised Manolo was so a part of the 60's London scene or that he did the shoes for Kirsten Dunst's Marie Antoinette. Or that Rupert Everett was friends with him (Rupert 'Hello Darling, Are You Working?' is a Thing in my set).</p> <p>He's an Old World Eccentric character. Nice but ill-fitting suits and simply awful socks, classically refined, humorous, and most wonderfully not merely a 'designer' but an actual cobbler. The documentary follows him into the factory and films him carving a heel. A Serious Person, you can tell, under a bit of flamboyance.</p> <p>Quite fun! </p> <p>OT: My mother kept asking if his shoes were really as comfortable as everyone says... I didn't know how to tell her 'No'. Dress shoes are dress shoes... lol! </p>
