My toenails are back to my usual copper. I did use that black/ red shifting color once, but it also shifted blue and purple. And it was a bit of a pain to remove. Just took a break because of all the hand-washing I had to do while various family members were sick with COVID. Ha, "break." It was probably 3 days without color on my nails. It was so boring I could hardly stand it. I definitely go with the mood with regard to polish colors! Darks, lights, I love pinks and reds and all shades of blue. I like metallics in theory but they wash me out a bit in reality. I have a set of ombre grays that are really fun, one for each nail.. I do love glitter occasionally. Tip regarding removal of glitter: I keep an acetone remover pot from Target for glitter occasions. There's something about that industrial-strength acetone plus little car-wash-style fingers in the pot that pops that glitter right off! I wore white all summer, beige in the fall, crimson for the festive season, and now dark grey for the rest of winter. Polish on my fingernails is a rare treat usually reserved for holidays. Now that I no longer work ER, I could probably get away with it for regular work days, but it chips so quickly and then looks unprofessional, even for my RATE self. But I have a whole Pinterest page of nail inspirations! This December I was in the mood for forest green. When DD came for Christmas with her array of tools, she painted me some accent nails with tree silhouettes. Earlier last year I had fun with ombré nails: once toning light pink through deep red, and once pale beige to rust. Maybe I'll try white through greys to black next. Manicures are either self- or daughter- produced. I started to book a proper manicure once, but bailed as soon as I realized it would take an hour. As for my hands, I’m really hard on them these days — doing a lot of moving furniture and cleaning as we renovate our basement. So I’m not bothering with anything more than DIY shaping and clear polish. I like my hands (even though they show my age), and don’t mind playing them up — I like my nails to be fingertip length or slightly longer and it’s hard to keep them at that length because they grow fast. BC19 I used to get a salon gel manicure for special occasions, but that hasn't happened since.  I vary on color but one thing I just can't seem to be satisfied without is glitter on at least one or two nails. It delights my inner 5 year old I guess. All one color looks elegant to me on other people, but for me I want the fun. It's not staying on for more than a few days anyway, so I just want to play. Like DonnaF, I'm a big fan of Zoya Pixie Dust colors.  Currently I have on black with a Zoya silver glitter and white speckles topcoat...because it snowed!! I don’t paint my toes at all in fall or winter (unless I need open toes for a fancy event, which happens… never). I do keep my feet otherwise groomed (clipped, pumiced, lotion’d). In summer, I wear all kinds of colors on my feet. Yellow, blues, greens, and rusty oranges or reds are my go-to. My hands won’t keep a manicure longer than 2-3 days, no matter how I prep or seal them. So, I tend to stick to buffing. Sometimes I’ll add a light color polish . so chips aren’t as obvious. I've been wearing a lot of glittery nail polish around the holidays. They are super fun and festive but a huuuge pain to take off. You need serious elbow grease On the bright side, glittery polish lasts as a long time :) Bijou - I like wearing glossy navy on my toes as well. I do toes more often than fingers, but I'm trying to get in the habit of taking better care of hands/fingernails as well. I started this when I was swimming at the gym regularly. I pick up the nail polishes that are better for you (formaldahyde free, etc) when I see colors that I like- usually brownish shades. I don't bother with my nails. The only time I ever had a professional manucure was for my first wedding...I may do one for my wedding again. I will do them myself for a special occasion, but it's been a long time. I do my nails once a week, and will buff, use a clear or light neutral polish, or wear color, all depending on my mood! I tend to wear classic colours ... Berry, burgundy, or neutral (in white, gray and navy as well as pinky beige), but sometimes will go for a wildcard at the manicurist - bright pink, or teal. I like a dark navy blue pedicure but am about to experiment with glossy black. I keep my fingernails short, so they are generally natural or a pale pink. I admire those who can keep their manicures immaculate, that is a skill way beyond me. Manicures generally chip after one or two days for me, so are reserved for special occasions. I just had a fun look where I had a few dark grey nails , and some pale sheer pink nails , with a single grey dot on the pink nails . I have a bit Pinterest folder of ideas :). Navy and brown is so chic - I need to try it ! Trouble is , I’m starting to accumulate a LOT of bottles of polish again , lol.
