Am 61. Also experience dry skin, so many types of moisturizers day and night. Some yrs ago I stopped using the Clinique foundation I'd used for decades. Tried tinted BB creams, etc.. but gave up that overall make up look finally.

Lately I use the Thrive Causmetics Triple Threat Color Sticks. I have several shades, and I mix and match a couple at a time on face for contour and highlight, as well as on my eyelids, and then blend with a brush. I do not like this product on my lips - in fact, I don't wear any lip products anymore except chapstick. I like Thrive's eye color sticks if I want something more than the base color. I also use eyeliner and mascara.

My mom lived into her late 70’s. She used Noxima in the jar as a moisturizer most of her life and always had radiant skin with very few wrinkles. Her mother also had beautiful skin, so she may have had great genes.

Been keeping an eye on older lady makeup tips that are not condescending, lol. Some of us would rather look our actual age. Like it’s a choice? Not anymore.
I picked up the Cerave moisturizer recommendation here and it’s worked well so far, no cloying scent and not sticky. Win!
I was never able to wear sunscreen, it feels claustrophobic. And will be in the sun till the day I die, I hope, so just consign the brown spots to the occasional retinol (Diferin) treatment and enjoy having the tan and rosy cheeks. I seem to have a lot of warm natural colour.
I bought a Nars blush stick a while back and use it occasionally.
I stopped using mascara after eye surgery. Brow tinting is under consideration. No daily application sounds good.
I am still putting some effort into the hair, bleached it back to all white, instead of mostly white, and get frequent cuts. Little more sharp and visible.
It is so easy to look unkempt as an older person, and not to be able to ‘see’ it, that I keep an eye on what small tweaks convey the most benefit, just to continue being taken seriously as a real person.

Yes, three years old thread, but might be interesting to hear if anyone has drastically changed their practices since then. I for one rarely rare anything but lipstick now, and that very seldom. Moisturizing lotion twice daily and sunscreen if going out are the only things I put on my face. This is a result of two years of no socializing and constant masking, and also 1. got used to my old face without make up, and 2. Don’t care, I guess.

Always define my eyebrows daily and then a lipstick. I stopped using eye-liner maybe ten years ago. I am 57. Before that I would not go without eye-liner. I just don't find it very youthful or necessary any more on me. Mascara and a taupe/light brown colored, creamy textured eye-shadow only for special occasions. Powder anything does not work for me at all. Less of everything has become better for me. I like the barely there look, but pronounced brows and lips. Just noticed this is a 3 year old thread.

Not in my 60s but ditto that brows are key! I started darkening them a few years ago and it makes such a difference. In general I'm having to go a bit darker to get more contrast these days. No wild colors atm, just darker browns instead of medium.

Probably more than you wanted to ever know:

In my early 60s I went to a make-up workshop at Nordstrom to update and prepare for my son's wedding. It must have been for Laura Mercier, because I switched to mostly her products. Regular foundation doesn't work for me anymore, but LM's tinted moisturizer in SPF 20 Nude does. Now, more than a decade later since DS's wedding, I use it daily unless I'm going to be outside for more than a few minutes, then I use regular sunscreen.

For important occasions I use Smashbox SPF 20 primer first. Better than LM for me.

Gave up on eyebrows until I found Gimmie Brow in medium. It tames those ridiculously long eyebrows I've been growing lately as well as colors. Most eyebrow pencils are too brown or too gray for me, but Chanel Ash Blonde is good. I can't be bothered with penciling it on most of the time.

I also use LM blush, lipstick and translucent powder. I'm happy with Loreal mascara, but just tried a sample of Mac's new mascara and I like it. Have check on what it's called.

I don't use eyeliner anymore. Too difficult and my eyes are deep set anyway. I occasionally use a cover up stick whee needed.

For running errands I put on the brow stuff, LM Nude or just powder, a bit of blush and lipstick. The whole eye makeup is saved for more formal occasions, like going to a class or meeting. I have yet to find the perfect brand or color, although LM is okay. Lipstick color and type is an ongoing search. If you've seen some of my recent photos you know I do need some color and definition.

I've always had oily skin and just recently it seems a bit drier. I use Cetaphyl at night and after an outbreak of rosacea earlier this year, tried Neutrogena Hyaleronic moisturizer at night. Maybe it's coincidence, but the red spots and red areas almost disappeared, plus my skin feels nicer. I have an aversion to chemical smells that many serums and cosmetics have, and I am allergic to lavender.

Oh, and yes my face still breaks out occasionally, but not since I've used the hyaluronic stuff it hasn't.

BTW, went to see dermatologist for annual check 2 weeks ago. She complimented me on my skin and said it looks really good, and this after looking a magnifying glass and light.

I asked her what she recommends for sunscreen now, and she said anything that works as long I use it. Even better is to cover up, wear a hat and stay out of the sun, I'm going to be out in the sun gardening or walking until I can't move anymore.

Let's see: I started using lipstick 65 years ago even though I got kicked out of class to go wipe it off.

I am 63, and I live in Arizona. I wear makeup everyday, unless I am really sick. Mostly, I have been wearing makeup since I was 14. I use clinique foundation, and have since I was in my 30s and developed rosacea. I use an aveeno spf 30 moisturizer under my foundation and let it seep in about 5 minutes before putting on foundation. I use a tube style mascara because I wear glasses and esp during summer, even waterproof seemed to not stay on well. I use smashbox waterproof eyeliner, a little blush, and some lipstick in either red or pink blotted well to avoid seepage in lines. I need the color on my lips as well as the protection it provides. I think as I have aged, the most noticeable difference for me is more natural looking eye makeup. No crazy color eyeshadow as I wore in my 20s and 30s. I also experiment less...found what I like and use it. Also, in my 50s I needed to start using eyebrow makeup, as mine has just faded into nothing....my big splurge is on YSL touche eclat for a concealer, as it does not seep into lines like many others do. Also, on gentle nightly exfoliation products. My skin is dry, and the products I use enhance how I look and feel, as well as give my skin some extra hydration and protection.

My everyday makeup routine: a little translucent compact powder, powder rouge on cheeks and chin, eyelash curler (important!), mascara, visible lipstick. And often Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Creme (or a similar, but cheaper product) used as gloss over the lipstick. Sometimes eyeliner and eyebrow pencil.

When I know I will be photographed, I do add eyeliner and eyebrow pencil. Sometimes tinted moisturizer. And a little more powder.

I don't spend much money on makeup. Some expensive products I have tried have been disappointing, and some inexpensive brands/product work fine for me.

Almost 63 and I have worn makeup since age 13. I will say though, I wear a lot less than I wore in my younger days. I will only wear full make up when I have an important event that dictates I look more formal. Otherwise, my daily routine is a gentle wash in the am, followed by facial serum, moisturizer, sunscreen. I use a creamy undereye concealer, brow pencil, eyeliner , and finally a little bit of blush.

My skin is in phenomenal shape as I have been told over and over again. That is probably why I can get away with very little makeup.

I used to use Anastasia eyebrow pencil, but found a cheaper brand that I love better (KISS). I used to buy high end moisturizers and cosmetics, but other (cheaper) brands I have found work just as well. I am still sticking with my Diorskin foundation and Lancome Effacernes concealer. I have found some Revlon products that I really like and if I don't it's not like I spent a ton of money. I love Revlon's Colorstay eyeliner and their cream eyeshadows, blush, and lipstick (Super Lustrous in Pink Truffle). As for mascara, I have found that drugstore brands are as good as the pricier department store products - but I definitely prefer a dry mascara to a wet mascara.

I'm still 2 years and 2 months away from the 60 milestone, but I've noticed that my skin has become much drier over the past several years. I always prep my skin with hylarounic acid, sunscreen, and moisturizer and use a retinol serum at night. Keeping my eyebrows tinted and groomed is key. I use Benefit cosmetics Ka-Brow! to define my eyebrows. In warmer weather, I wear a tinted mositurizer mixed with a couple of drops of BareMinerals Bareskin Sheer Sun as well as Benefit's Cha Cha tint on my cheeks. Sometimes, I'll wear eyeshadow, but always mascara, either Too Faced cosmetics Better than Sex mascara or L'Oreal Voluminous. I'm using more products but with a lighter hand now.

I’m not 60 yet, mid 50’s, but I have a dear friend who is 63. She started to struggle with makeup in her late 50’s. She developed rosacea which caused her to be super sensitive to lip gloss in particular. Her trademark makeup look was a brightly colored glossy lip, so she was devastated. She tried all sorts of mineral makeup including Bare Minerals, Origins, and Jane Iredale. The dermatologist suggested she try Almay which worked for a short time until they discontinued the line she used. On a whim, when we were in the mall a few months ago, we went to the Clinique counter. A perky art student working there part time helped her to find suitable products. It turned out to be a great experience. She ended up with foundation, concealer, blush, mascara and a lip color. She looks great! All the products except the blush are creamy and moisturizing, not powdery.

Her skin care regime is simple. Hypoallergenic soap like Cetaphil, and moisturizer day and night (Cerave).

My mom who is 79 wears makeup every day. She wears eyeliner, shadow, blush and lipstick which she religiously re-applies throughout the day. She uses a moisturizer from her dermatologist. Then a mineral sunscreen and mineral foundation. All her makeup comes from Elea Blake which is also where I get mine.

Neither my friend or my mother bother with their brows, but they both have nice brows.

Past my 60’s now but you may find that you need to pay more attention to your eyebrows. In my 60’s I became sensitive to everything. I used mostly Mary Kay products but most have been discontinued. For photos, I would use more makeup than normal. I gradually went from concentrating on eyes to concentrating on lips and from a liquid foundation to a tinted moisturizer.
