Hi Sally
Sounds fab! I personally love the idea of darker hair and red lipstick. But, I leave red lipstick for evening wear mainly. Then the eyes are not as strong, as others have suggested.
For my daytime look when I want red, I find that this shade ( Clinique, search for Long Last Lipstick, Pink Chocolate Matte) works beautifully to show off the lips, but without being overwhelming. The color is not red, but somehow works with all my red items (which I have loads) :), perhaps because it is categorized as Tawnies/Corals (I am totally color-uneducated, but that could be part of the explanation).

I agree that it's probably best to emphasize one or the other -- lips or eyes -- regardless of the haircut and style.

But try out a couple of approaches and post pics! I'm a big fan of the strong eye makeup for myself (I think my eyes are much prettier than my lips) so I love to live vicariously through those lucky women who can rock bold red lip color!

Oooh; I love the idea of the bright-red lipstick too. I'm just not brave enough to wear it outside of the house, so bravo to you.

Personally, I find that with a strong haircut it is too distracting to have too many features highlighted, so you may have to pick lips or eyes. Alternate for fun? Unless, of course, you have a signature va-va-voom red lip (I'm jealous!)

I"m going for a radical hair change this week(starting a new job so thought what the hell) . Instead of auburn Im going dark with strips of magnum red (think Sharon Osbourne but not all over the head - just strips) I"m cutting it but not sure how- will be layered and midlength. I often wear mascara and eyemakeup but never lipstick. I'm just wondering if its a good idea to have both features strong or to highlight only one. e.g if you wear strong eye makeup (which I often do for work) should I wear a subdued lipstick or could I also take a bright red. Love the idea of a red lipstick.
