I use the L'oreal tube mascara. My eyes water in the slightest breeze. It stays on me.

Try applying mascara to your upper lashes only, and forgetting about lower lashes entirely. Works like a charm! Also works well to sort of 'lift' your eyes a bit.

editing to add: Lancome brand Effacernes concealer makes the best 'primer' for eyes - no oily-ness and you don't need a separate eye primer. I used to use the Urban Decay brand Eye Potion Primer - but have found that this Lancome concealer does a much better job and does double/triple duty as a concealer in other areas as well. In any case, the Lancome Effacernes concealer will stop the oily-ness and help your eye makeup stay *on*.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/la.....er/2786620

You can apply this to the lids and under eye area. Makeup will stay in place. That said, might want to try mascara on upper lashes only - same with eyeliner too. Leave lower lashes bare. Your eyes will appear brighter.

editing to add: this concealer might seem expensive at first, but a little tube will last forever.

The tubes work, but I never get a thick enough look with them (Blinc is the brand) I have used the Mary Kay mentioned with good results, but have given up since my rep moved away. I also recently discovered Covergirl 24 hour lashblast (and it's cheap!). Really doesn't budge (would especially work with your curl after application trick)

I only use mascara (occasionally, not everyday) on my upper eyelashes. The reason is because I have sparse lower eyelashes, so using mascara on them only accentuates it. I *always* use kohl on my lower eyelid, I apply it above the lash line as I find it much easier and it goes between my lashes almost immediately. It does tend to run a little as the day goes on, but I can wipe it out in a moment with no problem as I never wear foundation and reapply kohl if neccessary.

Thanks for the tips! I don't think I have seen Tube mascara - any of the brands mentioned - here in South Africa (yet?) but I am going to look for them!

In the meantime I think I solved my problem today by applying my mascara and then using an eyelash curler. I think that maybe my lashes naturally just brush the skin under the eyes and cause that smudge? It's been 4 hours since I applied my makeup and no smudge yet!

Do you put on lotion or eye cream before your makeup? If so this may be causing the issue. Too much product that is not absorbed into the skin.

The only luck I've had is with Mary Kay. I use the NON-waterproof kind, and it doesn't budge until I wash it off. The down-side? Having to find a MK rep or order from them and then have them hound you forever... I think I might try this "tubing" mascara mentioned here.

I have the absolute worst time with this-- the only mascara I've ever been happy with was a lash stain that hasn't been manufactured in years. Everything else gets smudgy because of my oily skin.

I use a primer on my eyelids and under eye concealer. Both seem to keep the panda eyes and eyeshadow fading at bay because they absorb the oils on the skin around the eye. Also, it sounds like your mascara may not be drying fast enough. Maybe prop a piece of tissue paper under your lower lashes while you apply mascara and give the mascara a chance to dry? I know it's not convenient in the morning rush but it might help.

Well...I have sensitive eyes and mascara always irritates me no matter how mild and gentle formulation I go for! so I have invested in a good quality eyelash curler now and it works wonders for me! All the hassle gone...no irritation , no smudging and no make up remover for my eyes...but still big bold eyelashes!!

I don't get that with waterproof mascara but with regular. how about trying a product to keep eye makeup from wearing off? I get almost greasy eyelids and my liner wears off onto the lid. I use a product called 'Stay'. (in canada) that stops the shine. it is like liquid foundation in a pump format that dries light so might only work for Caucasian skin. However it might solve your smudges. (keeps my liner and shadow in place)
