I like Betty's style best (love the white dress- she looks like Grace Kelly there), but I have a soft spot for Trudy, too. She's younger and not as polished, but has some pretty dresses. Peggy is just a bit dowdy and Joan, hot as she is, give the impression of constantly holding her breath.

Thanks for posting those gorgeous photos, Mac. That one of Betty at the bar, silhouette style, was my fave! I'm a huge fan of this show. It's so brilliant.

Everything changed in what seemed like overnight in the US in those years, 1968 to 1970. It was kind of a political and social revolution. The fashion too. I was in high school. Having no choice but to wear dresses to school and work was a reflection of many areas of not being allowed things just because you were female . It needed to change.

I don't think that was the change that accounts for the slovenly dress in America now, though. I think it is the availability of cheap outsourced clothing, Walmart style, that is the cause.

Ooooooooh, Angie - that dress is SO you!

I have to say that I have loathed Peggy's style.

And I know, RoseandJoan! Or even, in a decade, from these lusciouos styles to crocheted vests, bushy beards and ponchos *shudder* http://www.etsy.com/storque/ha.....baby-3742/

I have not seen the show but the fashion blows my mind, how did we get from this to boxy tees and ugg boots in the space of two generations?

I like Mr. Draper's style best :0)

Betty next and Joan third. Adore Rodger!

I LOVE Betty's black and gold high necked sheath in the last photo. I'll take one of those please.

Cookie - it sounds as tho' you have a lot of potential guests for your cocktail party right here on YLF : )

I know that a lot of you have never watched the television program and I figured that this slide show would help "bring you up to speed" on Mad Men style, if you were interested.

It's funny; I've always loved clothes of this era but even when I was 15/16 and seriously slim, none of the vintage clothes that I could find from that era could would fit me - waaay too short in the arms, tight in the shoulders, etc. Wouldn't it be fab to find a seamstress who specialized just in clothes from that era and could custom fit each of us?!

I agree that Joan's raspberry dress is incredible but I also think the flowered dress that Bette is wearing (when she's sitting in the chair) is lovely, too.

Oh gosh I love those pics! If I was able to go back to another era that would definitely be it! Normally I love Betty's style the best, but I really like both Betty & Joan's dresses here. (Not that I've ever seen an episode - just lots of images!)

Cookie I'd love to go to a party like that - what a fabulous idea!

For those of you who love MadMen style - or even those of you who don't - here are a slew of new photos from the television series.

I really love some of the mens styles, too. Ahhh, how I adore gentlemen with short hair and great suits! I could, however, do without all the cigarettes : )
