I was surprised to be told that the fabric, which felt to me like waterproof "sprayjacket" material, was actually silk. ( It looked a lot like what I can see in the Macy's photo, i.e. the fabric had a light, stiff and cool hand and had a sort of "semi-matte" finish.)<br /> Although I hadn't come across this type of fabric before, I have no doubt that I was told the truth, as my designer has built his reputation on sourcing unusual (and expensive) silks from Asia that are less well-known. But now that I know that a "waterproof" silk does exist, I can see how easy it would be to substitute a synthetic fabric for this type of silk. Not that this is any excuse for inaccurate advertising. And not the silky, nice polyester that you get these days. It's made of *raincoat* material. Very stiff and noisy.
